JR's Blog: Daniel Bryan..Freebird-JYD..JR on Facebook..WWEShop Update..Order This Weekend & We Ship Monday..Q&A's Updated

Great Saturday here in Norman and we hope that where ever you are that your weekend is just as good. Thanks for stopping by and for ordering our products during the height of the Grilling Season and with Father's Day and the 4th of July Holiday just around the corner. If you place orders this weekend, we will ship them out Monday.

I was surprised to get up Saturday morning and to read that Daniel Bryan or Bryan Danielson had been released from WWE. I am not sure of the exact circumstances and until that information is confirmed it's hard to make any definitive comments. Bryan is a talented wrestler who is not going to have any trouble finding work. His in ring style is unique, the young man has certainly paid his 'dues,' what ever that means now days, and he's arguably the most talked about performer on NXT. Certainly Bryan leaves WWE with momentum and with more fans knowing his name than at any point in his career. Plus, who is to say that Bryan will never return to WWE? There may be a great deal more to this matter than any of us know or, honestly, need to know at this time.

Why did the Freebirds vs. JYD storyline work so well in Mid South Wrestling that saw it put record numbers of fans at that time in the Louisiana Superdome? Because it was a 'personal issue' that was not rushed, was plausible, and a story that most every one could relate. The overwhelmingly popular hero, JYD, was 'blinded' by the evil, diabolical villains, The Fabulous Freebirds, which came at a time when Dog's wife was about to give birth to their baby daughter. The daughter was born but Dad could not see his baby thanks to the actions of the 'Birds. This matter wasn't about titles but was simply a well constructed, personal issue that got many fans to emotionally invest in what they were seeing unfold episodically on weekly TV. It was one of the hottest issues of the generation and I can only assume that a few of you saw it when it first happened but more have seen it via the Mid South Wrestling archives that are available at www.universalwreslting.com as best I know.

The Freebirds had to be very careful traveling the Louisiana highways at all times due to the legitimate angst that fans felt toward them because of their actions on the beloved Junkyard Dog. It was story telling 101 that still works to this very day if properly executed. No need to reinvent the wheel but simply and strategically parlay human nature.

WWEShop is working diligently to address international shipping issues with UPS as it relates to shipping liquids (our sauce) and meat products (our beef jerky) outside the USA. WWE is optimistic that something will be worked out and we'll hopefully hear some good news next week. Everyone involved in this process is doing all they can to rectify this matter as we all want to sell our products to the folks outside the USA especially those in the UK and Canada who email us the most. In the mean time, those inside the USA can order with FREE SHIPPING 24/7.

Our J. R.'s Cookbook, which we personalize as one of our special offers on the site, has 'man friendly' recipes, the nuances of the differences of grilling and BBQ'ing (smoking), lots of photos, and a bunch of easy to read, quick, wrestling stories. Bottom line as Steve Austin would say, it's more than just a collection of my family's recipes.

I'm very close on making an announcement regarding becoming affiliated with a big time player in the on line, sports world. Details are still being discussed but hopefully we will arrive at our destination in the next week or two. I have plenty of thoughts to share regarding college football realignment which I have shared with some in our updated Q&A section of this site. Check them out if you're a college football fan.

Emailer...should TNA go on the air and verbally blast WWE to gain notoriety? To me, that would be extremely stupid and a waste of valuable TV time. What would it prove? TNA's success or failure is about them getting better at what they do not what WWE is or isn't doing.

Emailer...grilling skinless, chicken breast can be a little tricky as it relates to overcooking them and then having to eat a dry piece of chicken. Try marinating the chicken in your favorite marinade, liquid smoke, etc over night or at least a couple of hours. Cook the chicken over lower heat than normal but remember that every grill is unique and that every grill has a 'hot spot.' Use a knife to cut into the breast to see if it's done and don't be afraid to turn the skinless breast over on the grill more than once to see how it's going. At the end of the grilling procedure, with about a minute or two remaining, brush on WARM JR's BBQ Sauce to make your skinless, chicken breasts 'just right.'

I'll be watching the UFC PPV from Vancouver Saturday night and sentimentally pulling for Chuck Liddell to beat Rich Franklin. I'm not a 'Franklin hater' by any means but 'The Iceman' is one of those characters that one emotionally invests in and I have done just that over the years. Liddell reportedly is in awesome physical shape which is encouraging to hear. The question is how is Chuck's chin not to mention the UFC Legend hasn't gotten any younger. Regardless, I want Liddell to have as much success as he can muster toward the twilight of his run because, I'm a fan, and I think that he's earned it. I can't see Liddell having that many more big time, UFC main events. Time will tell on that one I suppose. Even though Franklin is favored, one never knows what will happen on a UFC PPV. I see no way this fight goes to the judge's scorecards or likely even make it into the third round.

Emailer...it is absolutely too early for even the internet experts to declare that this NXT class is 'starless.' I see some young athletes that intrigue me and simply need to see more of them to offer an educated and informed opinion. I do think that some of the young guys will surprise us before all is said and done which is why I enjoy watching NXT each week because I find the show unpredictable.

Have a great weekend and we will be answering Q&A's throughout the weekend plus I will be all over our Twitter account especially while the UFC is going on tonight. Join our almost 40,000 followers at http://twitter.com/JRsBBQ.

Thanks for the visit and for the business.
