JR's Blog: WEC PPV...Fight of the Year?...WWE on PPV Tonight...New Info on Alleged UK Incident...Orders Welcomed for Sauce & Jerky

Here's hoping that every one is having a great weekend. Let's cook with some random thoughts before you place your order for our products that will make your grilling season better.

The CAC/Vegas trip was a great time but the Mrs and I did not realize how worn out we were until we got home here in Norman. Many a late night in Vegas during the CAC but every night an enjoyable one without question. One night I went to bed just as Mike and Mike were coming on ESPN for their morning show.

WWE has a PPV tonight that I will attempt to watch live. Extreme Rules in Baltimore from the old arena. Lots of wrestling history has been made in Baltimore as we've mentioned. Perhaps tonight some 'sports Entertainment' history will be made. What's the over/under on my pal the King wearing a cool looking T shirt. The money that man spends on wardrobe. ....'vintage money.'

The Q&A Section of this site is now updated with new material for your reading pleasure.

We received an email from a UK fan who was at the hotel when the alleged Mark Henry/fan incident occurred. This on site witness tells a different story that some, knee jerk websites have run as if they were actually there and were eye witnesses to the alleged matter. As I wrote in my last blog, it sounded like much to do about nothing and apparently it was. Apparently, the offended individual is so upset that he is coming to Atlanta next year for WM27 and getting married there. Now that's trauma. The emailer to our site had many nice things to say about the WWE wrestlers which is usually the case much more often than not for most guys and gals in the business. Again, you read what he said for yourself in our Q&A section of the site.

We grilled last night and plan on grilling again tonight as I never pass up an opportunity to enjoy the outdoor cooking time and not having to mess up the kitchen. Made a burger topping last night using JR's Chipotle Ketchup as a base and seasoning to taste with our Original Sauce, a splash of Worcestershire sauce, and some garlic pepper. It worked out nicely and I'll go for it again tonight if we do steaks.

More customers are buying in bulk and saving money and then splitting the shipment with family and friends. That's a good idea plus many folks are telling us that they are using our products, especially the autographed packages, for gifts for wrestling fans for a variety of occasions.

Really enjoyed the WEC PPV Saturday night from Sacramento. It felt as if UFC, who owns WEC, is now the proprietor of the top, two MMA brands going. Oddly, UFC used Mike Goldberg and Joe Rogan, who always do a solid job but are getting borderline overexposed, as the broadcasters of the PPV along with the exuberant Bruce Buffer as the ring announcer. Perhaps this is the UFC 'PPV team' which lends one to believe that perhaps UFC is going to fold WEC into the parent brand and not go with a Raw/Smackdown thing. The lack of WEC signage in the arena was surprising as was the lack of WEC mentions on air by Goldberg and Rogan.

One can argue from a marketing perspective that parent company Zuffa would be better served to grow two brands, if they can, to further gain an even stronger foothold overall in the world of MMA.

I was going to tape the fight and watch it Sunday but after watching Spike TV and seeing Leonard Garcia win a split decision against Chan Sung Jung I was compelled to buy the PPV and watch it live. Garcia vs. Jung was a slobber-knocker to say the least and, hopefully, those two will be compensated for their efforts as they had to have sold their share of PPV's with their performance.

One thing is for sure, and I don't care where he fights, I will pay to see Jose Aldo fight again on PPV. Also is a superstar and is only going to get better. Hopefully Aldo will be encouraged to learn to speak enough English to be able to communicate with his largest audience which are primarily English speaking. A fighter being able to verbalize directly to the consumer or fan base increases the opportunity to monetize every opportunity that comes the fighter's way. Because the general shelf life of a MMA competitor is relatively short, monetizing opportunities early and often is crucial.

Not that any one has or should question the matter but the toughness of Urijah Faber is unquestioned and if he's able to walk today the 'California Kid' is even tougher than most think. Faber gutted out a Government Mule-like beating, specifically Aldo's lethal leg kicks, and refused to quit even though he had to know that he was a beaten man by the 3rd round. My respect for Faber grew Saturday night.

WEC can be a viable, profitable brand for UFC and the more stars that they can build the more live events and PPV's they can promote including using WEC fighters on UFC PPV's where these smaller athletes just may steal the show more often than not. Lord knows that the world likely doesn't need any more PPV's so seeing the WEC's best incorporated in UFC PPV's seems to make the most sense. Bottom line is how many PPV's can an average family purchase each month no matter the genre?

Good to see fellow Oklahoman Shane Roller get a nice win Saturday night as the former 3X wrestling All American at Oklahoma State is building a solid body of work and, in time, has the opportunity to be a major player in MMA.

I think that this is the weekend that Vader and son Jesse White are teaming in Japan. Vader is going to get me a DVD of the match upon his return. Jesse graduates from OU in May and then plans on embarking on a pro wrestling career. My advice to him would be to give it 2-4 years, MAX, and if he did not see any light at the end of the tunnel then change courses and pursue another profession utilizing his college degree.

Met many young talents in Vegas who desperately want to get in the wrestling business. Some are almost obsessed with the profession which can be a blessing or a curse. My advise is to work all the indy events one can, build a DVD of one's bouts there, and then try and get in touch with ROH, TNA or WWE and see where the process takes them. I truly believe that it is arguably just as challenging to make it onto a pro wrestling roster as it is to make it onto a NFL roster. Just do the math.

Thanks for stopping by and we appreciate everyone's support.
