The Scoop

The Scoop

NEWS
The day after winning the WWE SmackDown! World Title from Chris Jericho, Jack Swagger and his girlfriend reportedly tied the knot in Las Vegas, NV.

Names under consideration for induction into the WWE Hall of Fame next year in Atlanta include Bill Goldberg, Lex Luger, Sting (if he's free of TNA commitments), The Steiner Brothers (Rick Steiner & Scott Steiner), and Ron Simmons.

In an update on her Facebook dated last Tuesday, former TNA Knockout Karen Angle announced that she is now engaged with TNA co-founder Jeff Jarrett. The two have been going out since last year when she separated from her husband and former TNA and WWE champion Kurt Angle. The "secret" relationship was blown during the Bubba "The Love Sponge" radio show mid last year when a TNA employee called in anonymously and spilled the beans forcing TNA President Dixie Carter to send Jarrett home to avoid further conflicts in the locker room. Eventually Jeff and Kurt settled their personal differences. Kurt and Karen's divorce was finalized on October 26, 2008.

TNA raised money for the American Red Cross for the recent mine disaster in West Virginia at their three weekend house shows this week. Kurt Angle, Jeff Jarrett and the Beautiful People were at the arenas at 5 p.m. for photos and autographs in exchange for monetary donations.

The artwork and first details of Mick Foley's new book entitled Countdown To Lockdown have been released. The book, featuring a total of 336 pages from the #1 New York Times bestselling author will be released on October 1, 2010. Originally hand written like all his previous books, Foley recounts his TNA debut, his relationship with Vince McMahon, doing ringside broadcast for "WWE Friday Night SmackDown!", the death of Chris Benoit, and much more. You can see the artwork of the book by clicking here.

ESPN's "SportsCenter" on Sunday showed Texas Stadium being imploded, noting highlights were NFL games, college football national championship games, and Kerry Von Erich's NWA World Heavyweight Title win over Ric Flair.

In an interview with ESPN, former WCW champion Bill Goldberg said that the chance of him being at WrestleMania XXVII next year in Atlanta at the Georgia Dome exists and it's not "out of the realm of possibility." Goldberg mentioned that he and Hulk Hogan put 43,000 people in the Dome years ago within three days of notice for a match that he won where he also took the WCW World Title away from the Hogan during an episode of "WCW Monday Nitro". Goldberg said "I've got a fairly big following in Atlanta". Goldberg also added that he's negotiating with WWE for a merchandise deal so his young son could have his updated action figure. "The doors are kind of open to negotiation as far as a merchandising deal. If it leads to something else? It's a wonderful day," he told ESPN. "If not, I'm totally content with the way I went out. To be able to get merchandise out there not only satiates the fans but hopefully there have been a lot of people wondering where my merchandise is. The reason why I want to do this is my boy; just trying to be a good father."

Roddy Piper was a guest on the "Pro Wrestling Report" radio show in what turned out to be a very insightful and entertaining interview. Among other things, Piper talks about:

-Being called a racist for painting himself half black in a match against Bad News Brown and how the idea was hatched and by whom and why it took him 3 weeks to get all the paint off his body.
-Ric Flair naked (again).
-He and Iron Sheik on the road being stopped by the police.
-Why his wife questioned some comments made by Wendy Richter at the WWE HOF and Richter's singing abilities.
-His thoughts on Haku.
-Working with DDP on the set of his new movie.

You can hear the whole interview by clicking here.

Mayor John Dickert has declared April 16th as Roddy Piper Day in Racine, WI. Piper will be appearing at a Great Lakes Championship Wrestling event in Racine on that day.

There is a story on Vampiro returning home to Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada for a show on May 15th at Fort William Gardens. He faces Hannibal with Terry Funk as referee. The story claimed Hannibal has ended the career of both Abdullah the Butcher and Sid Vicious by giving them severe beatings. You can read the entire story by clicking here.

Asylum Championship Wrestling has changed venues in Colorado Springs, CO moving from The Expo Center to The City Auditorium.

Last Thursday's Oklahoma Daily had an article on Jesse White, the son of Vader, who briefly played football at the University of Oklahoma and graduates from the school this year, following his father's footsteps into pro wrestling. Jesse White and his father debut as a tag team in three weeks in Japan. They noted Vader is down to 340. Jim Ross was also quoted in the story.

NWA Oklahoma officials have announced that the NWA-OK Light Heavyweight Title is now defunct and will be replaced by the NWA-OK Texoma Title. All NWA-OK titles will be on the line at their "Gold Rush" event in Ardmore on May 7th
