NEWS
The 28 year old Oklahoma native Jack Swagger successfully cashed in his Money In The Bank at the "WWE's Friday Night SmackDown!"television tapings last Tuesday night. The match of Swagger defeating Chris Jericho and becoming the new World Heavyweight Champion aired last Friday. After getting speared by Edge in the opening segment, Swagger ran to the ring, asked for a referee, and gutwrench powerbombed Jericho out of his shoes to become one of the youngest World Champions ever. This was the quickest cashing in since Money in the Bank started in 2005 and Swagger became the fifth guy to win the title following his win at WrestleMania. Only Mr. Kennedy failed to cash in after he put his briefcase up for grabs against Edge in 2007. Edge eventually went on to win the title that same week from The Undertaker.

After Jack Swagger won the WWE SmackDown! World Title on last week, WWE.com moved his profile to the "SmackDown!" roster page. Currently his profile is still listed also listed on the Raw page, but if you click it you get a message stating the page cannot be found.

The "SmackDown!" segment on Friday night involving Jack Swagger, Shelton Benjamin, and Mickie James that aired was heavily edited from how it was originally taped.

It was considered a telling sign that Jim Ross wasn't used to at least announce the WrestleMania 26 main event, even though Ross was in attendandance for the PPV. WWE is still negotiating to retain his services, and apparently wants him to stay in a "Gene Okerlund" like role. It is becoming apparent that WWE doesn't want Ross to announce on weekly television.

The Miami Herald recently did a story on a Florida Championship Wrestling show at the Dade County Fairgrounds. They reported the crowd as several hundred, with the main event of Miami's Montel Vontavious Porter & Joe Hennig (son of Curt Hennig) defeating Carlito & WWE World Tag Team Champion Big Show, plus a Battle Royal won by Duke Rotundo (son of Mike Rotundo). The story noted Rock's mother, Ata Johnson, at ringside rooting on The Samoan Soldiers, twins Jimmy & Jules Uso (sons of Rikishi), Donny Marlow (son of Haku) and Tamina (daughter of Jimmy Snuka). You can read the entire story by clicking here.

Shawne Merriman of the San Diego Chargers teased the idea he would do pro wrestling after the 2010 football season. He said he's not interested in wrestling right now and his focus is on football, but said he's a huge wrestling fan and has talked with Vince McMahon and called it a possibility. No way he's giving up NFL money if he can still play in 2011 for pro wrestling starting out money. Bill Goldberg has said he'd come back if he could be Merriman's tag team partner.

On the "Red Eye" talk show on Fox News Friday night, they talked about the story where WWE fans skewed heavily Democratic more than the fan base of any other sport. Chris Cotter, on the show, said that if you lived in North Carolina and Ric Flair was running for Governor, it wouldn't matter which party he was from, he would win.

Ric Flair got into a verbal confrontation with the male from Orlando Jordan's odd skit on "TNA iMPACT!" this past week. Flair was angry with him for unknown reasons and confronted him at a club where everyone was hanging out after the show. The man was shaken by Flair's comments and left the club.

The Sun has a story on "TNA iMPACT!" ratings increasing in the United Kingdom. Since the arrival of Hulk Hogan and Ric Flair, viewers have gone from an average of 56,000 in two showings to 133,000 in two showings each week. You can read the whole story by clicking here.

ShopTNA.com has added a plaque signed by Ric Flair and A. J. Styles that is limited to only 210 pieces.

Former pro wrestler and former world record holder in the bench press, Ted Arcidi, has a role as a policeman in the independent suspense movie "Dan McKay," which opened Friday. Thomas Hayden Church and Elisabeth Shue star in the movie.

Oklafan was saddened to learn of the death of Chris Kanyon. Kanyon began his career in 1992 and struggled in both WCW and WWF under bad gimmicks, including a ?Men At Work? construction gimmick tag team with Mark Starr, before working under a mask as Mortis. Teaming with Wrath (Bryan Clark) and managed by James Vandenberg, Mortis & Wrath engaged in a feud with Glacier. But after that story ran its course, Mortis removed the mask and went by Chris Kanyon. Teaming with Dallas Page & Bam Bam Bigelow, they formed the Jersey Triad. Page & Kanyon captured the WCW World Tag Team Title on June 13, 1999. They would hold the belts for about 2 months before losing them to Harlem Heat (Booker T & Stevie Ray) on August 14, 1999. When WCW shut down, Kanyon was brought into WWF, where he was a prominent member of the Alliance during the Invasion Angle. He once again teamed with Dallas Page and defeated the A. P. A. (Bradshaw & Faarooq) for the WWF World Tag Team Titles August 7, 2001, but only held the belts for a little over a week before losing them to the Brothers of Destruction (Kane & The Undertaker) on August 19, 2001. Kanyon was also awarded the WCW United States Title while in the WWF on July 24, 2001, defending it for approximately 6 weeks before losing it to Tajiri on September 10, 2001. Kanyon gained considerable notoriety when he claimed he was fired from the WWE in 2004 because he?d admitted his homosexuality. He made one appearance in TNA as Chris K, but his sexual orientation seemed to make him too touchy of a personality to get long term employment at the high levels. Kanyon did stunt work in movies and battled personal demons for several years, including a diagnosis of bi-polarity, before ultimately committing suicide on April 2, 2010. Kanyon made one documented appearance in Oklahoma on February 13, 1998 at a WCW event in Oklahoma City, losing to then United States Champion Dallas Page. Oklafan extends its condolences to Kanyon?s family and friends.

WWE issued a statement on their website regarding the death of Chris Kanyon. "World Wrestling Entertainment would like to express its deepest condolences to Christopher Klucsaritis' family and friends on his tragic passing. Klucsaritis was under contract with WWE from March 2001 until February 2004 and performed under the name Chris Kanyon," Meanwhile, several of his former colleagues also used their Twitter accounts to remember their friend including Matt Hardy, Shane Helms, Bill Goldberg, Steve Austin, Ken Anderson, Kevin Nash, and others.
