JR's Blog: Tuesday Update...Heenan...JR "On TV"...Bear Bryant...Differing Wrestling, Philosophies...Q&A's Updated...Jerky Mania's Hot!

Thanks for stopping by and paying us a visit. I wanted to hammer out a quick blog prior to making my daily trek to the gym. Things are good in Norman with the weather warming up significantly over the single digits we experienced recently. Business in our on line store is growing and we appreciate all of you that chose to do some business with us no matter the occasion. We want to become your source for BBQ Sauces and Chipotle Ketchup and our goal is to earn the right to have these products as permanent fixtures in your refrigerators.

You're invited to join our group on Facebook as we are well over 1,000 members now. Check out our Facebook site at http://facebook.dj/jrbbq/.

Our Jerky Mania package which consists of a 6 Pack of JR's Championship Beef Jerky, an autographed 8X10 photo and FREE SHIPPING all for only $19.88 is rocking! Order it today and we will ship it tomorrow.

Got an email from Bobby and Cindi Heenan recently and "The Brain" would love to try our sauces but because he eats through a feeding tube it isn't feasible for him. To some degree, Bobby will always battle his health issues but his wonderful spirit and sense of humor are still on the money. Bobby's grandson has been a God send to "The Wease" and Cindi, as are all grandchildren, but little Austin came along at a perfect time to truly become the apple of his grandpa Heenan's eye.

Yours truly went to the OU-OSU men's hoops contest last night here in Norman on the Sooner campus as Oklahoma wins a thriller in OT. My seat was right behind the TV announcers who in this instance were Brent Mushberger and Bob Knight. Apparently some fans and friends spied me at court side and one sensational, INTERNET headline on a wrestling site declared that I was on TV "against Raw." Amazing.

We have updated our Q&A section as of Tuesday afternoon. We covered a variety of topics including which WWE Wrestling TV show I enjoyed broadcasting more, why Pete Carroll left Southern Cal, an attempt to get me to discuss politics, the tag team of Doc & Gordy, why I am somewhat reluctant to return the air on Friday Night Smackdown and much more. Check it out.

As we speculated here, it seems, at least according to the INTERNET, that Steve Austin will return to Raw as the Guest Host in March in advance of WM26 and to promote the DVD release of his film entitled "Damage." I assume this info is accurate but I have not talked to Steve about it but if it is true then it will be a good thing for Monday Night Raw and for Stone Cold which results in the desired win/win . We've already received some emails here asking if I would be a part of that particular Raw and my answer is a simple, non complicated, Gorilla Monsoon-esque, "Highly Unlikely." Some fans are already busy producing the proposed Stone Cold Raw with me included which is drastically premature and high speculative. I will admit that mid March will likely be an interesting time for me on a professional basis. Steve and I have a great relationship and a long history together on WWE TV but he has his agenda and I have mine and the two don't necessarily include the other at every turn in the road. That's not a complaint but it's simply real life.

I will be in Houston this Thursday evening for the Bear Bryant Coach of the Year Banquet in conjunction with the American Heart Association. My pal Wallis Marsh is one of the head honchos of this affair that not only names the National Coach of the Year in College Football but also does great work for the American Heart Association. Both my parents died at age 64 of heart failure so this is an organization that is very close to me.

Been reading on line some interviews with those in the biz who feel that Cage Matches need not a winner via the stipulations set forth in the presentation. I could not disagree more. Cage Matches were created to bring about closure, literally and figuratively, and to have a disqualification in a cage match is wrong...in my opinion. Granted, my opinion may not be 100% accurate either but it's my opinion nonetheless.

I'm not even a big fan of "escaping the cage" to determine a winner in a cage match but I can live with that easier than I can seeing someone get disqualified inside a cage in a pro wrestling match. Ugh.

It was pointed out to me that my voice overs were on some old Mike Tyson highlights on Monday night which was cool and a little surprising at the same time. Often times one's commentary from such a long time ago might not be applicable or could be a disconnect to the viewer. I DVR'ed Raw and will check it out from start to finish ASAP.

BTW...having disqualifications in a cage match on a pro wrestling show is akin to wrestling heroes guaranteeing victory and not delivering. One might be able to get away with that on a rare occasion but it isn't smart positioning for "our hero" to make promises he or she can't keep.

The TV wrestling biz is actually much more simple to produce than some folks want to acknowledge. As long as wrestling fans have access to a remote and the trend persists that most TV viewers don't or won't watch commercials any TV show that has too much content becomes challenging to watch. Most of us can only process so much info when watching a TV show. TV programs that are overproduced encourage an emotional detachment and channel surfing...it's as simple as that.

No wrestling show will survive in today's marketplace with wall to to wall wrestling as viable "talk" is essential. However, I do think most fans tune in to a wrestling show to watch more wrestling than to hear talk. Why do we watch football? The half time show? The commercials? Witty banter with the cool, hip broadcasters? I watch the game to see football. Just one guy's opinion.

Wanna watch torture on TV?? The Maury Povich Show with all the bleeping and "baby mama" talk is totally insane but it has been on for years and is the epitome of a one trick pony. What must Maury's wife, the celebrated journalist Connie Chung, think of this unique albeit successful TV program. I was channel surfing recently and the noise on the Maury show stopped me. I did not stay long I have to admit.

Our $18.88 Red Hot Tag Special is heating up too. It gives you 2 bottles of HOT, BBQ Sauce and a bag of Jerky and an autographed 8X10 plus FREE SHIPPING! A buddy of mine mixes the HOT Sauce with horseradish and makes his own ****tail sauce that I'm told is the real deal. I love to mix our Hot BBQ Sauce with my baked or BBQ beans. Big time flavor.

The amazing Randy Couture is fighting again soon which I have some thoughts on that I will share in the next few days. Couture is a warrior and his fights are always worth the price of admission or PPV as the case may be. I watch Randy's fights and catch myself broadcasting them to myself inside my head. Is that strange or does Couture's fights merely cause me to make the imperative emotional investment in the presentations in which the former OSU Cowboy is involved? UFC will always get some of my PPV dollars as long as they promote fighters will innate passion and the integrity of a Randy Couture.

We appreciate everyone's support of our website and invite you to follow us on Twitter and on the Smackdown page of WWE.com.

Be well and count your blessings.

Boomer sooner!
