JR's Blog: Tuesday Update...Raw Thoughts...On Line Business Brisk...Steve Austin About To Wrap Latest Film

With the holidays upon us, I hope that you will order ASAP to help avoid any potential shipping issues. Nonetheless we really appreciate your business and support.

Random thoughts...

Three hour TV shows with commercial breaks added in are challenging to watch no matter the genre. At least that's my take on the matter but I may have a shorter attention span than most so take that into consideration. Raw certainly had its moments last night in Corpus Christi but three hours is a long time for one to stay 'hooked."

Even with me being such a big, football fan, if the game is out of hand it, too, can lose my attention.

I have been a fan of Dennis Miller's comedy over the years but the one rule of thumb that one always hears from comedians is to know one's audience. I'm not sure that Miller knew what to expect with his type of humor to a unique audience Monday night but there seemed to be many occasions that the fans in Corpus Christi didn't "get it." Some may even compare Miller's often panned experience on Monday Night Football to his experience on Monday Night Raw.

Miller's Raw experience will likely be one of the more unique ones of the Pittsburgh natives long career and one can assume that Miller will have some interesting and provocative things to say about hosting the Slammy Award Show in the coming days.

Miller's interaction with Mr. McMahon was "uncomfortable" to watch. But I watched.

The teasing of Bret Hart potentially hosting Raw was cool. That was the first that I had officially heard of any sort of "Hitman" return but it's always good to see Bret in any forum and one would think that the WWE HOF'er would enhance the ratings for Raw when and if Bret does make an appearance.

Could that particular appearance occur on January 4? Your guess is as good as mine.

Also, Shawn Michaels challenging the Undertaker for a match at WM26 captured my imagination. These two created magic in Houston at WM25 and the question will be asked if both future WWE HOF'ers can recreate such a moment one more time. I will always consider being a part of the broadcast team for WM25 and being a small part of the HBK-Taker presentation as one of the greatest experiences that I've had in this business.

Is next week's Raw guest host, Johnny Damon, still going to be a New York Yankee next season? Nonetheless I do know that Damon is a friend of Tommy Dreamer's and has followed WWE for a good while.

March 2010 is going to be a packed month of PPV's. March 13 is Mayweather-Pacquiao which I still think should be held in a domed stadium. This is likely going to be the hottest boxing event in decades and will do a monster PPV number without question. UFC 111 occurs the night before Wrestlemania and will make for promotional time on the cable and satellite outlets a premium commodity. What brand gets the most media stretch on the PPV providers is going to be a huge, yet to be answered question.

Bottom line, as with all PPV events, if the attractions are strong enough, most fans will find a way to purchase more than one PPV if they so choose. This is another case in point that competition is good for all businesses and a valid motivating factor for all entertainment and sports entities who provide programming opportunities on PPV.

Not to mention all the PPV activity in March let's also not forget about the NCAA Basketball Tournament aka March Madness which will, as always, garner its fair share of the TV audience especially males.

The Q&A section of this site has been updated as of Tuesday morning. Again, really long diatribes and multiple questions as in more than 3 are likely to be deleted. Please be succinct and I will do all I can to address new questions or comments.

Yours truly is awaiting some important, medical test results that I hope to have sometime this week. I am of the belief that they will provide good news and refuse to believe any thing else. It goes without saying that I sincerely appreciate all the get well wishes and prayers from so many of you.

Since making many, overdue life style changes I have been feeling great the past several weeks as I await the aforementioned medical test results and the facial nerve to kick start.

With my personal health still my most important issue, I am not stressing about any contractual issues or negotiations and nothing has changed on that front or my mindset regarding such since I last addressed this matter. All my contractual issues are still in motion and being discussed.

Steve Austin will finish filming his latest film this week in Vancouver and I know Steve is looking forward to some R&R on his Texas ranch in the coming weeks. The Mrs and I hope to hook up with Steve after the holidays if schedules permit. Steve is really stoked about this soon to be finished film that has been shot largely outdoors in the mountains and woods near Vancouver.

Can you believe that some "squatter" scarfed up the rights to Jerry Lawler's website while The King was running for Mayor? King's new site is www.kingjerrylawler.com.

As I write this my bride and her sis are busy packing and shipping your orders. We've extended the personally, autographed JR's Cookbook offer so it's still up and available. This is another great gift idea that is under $20 and includes FREE SHIPPING. Our 6 Pak Challenge Packages and the 3 Paks are going great guns, too.

Be well and count your blessings.
