JR's Blog: Saturday Update...Naitch...JBL...Dinner Impossible...Order now for the Holidays!

Posted: Nov 14th 2009 By: mikeiles

What a great Saturday here in Norman. Texas A&M visits OU tonight at 6 on Fox Sports Southwest. I'll be on the Sooner sideline black with hat in tow hoping my team can become bowl eligible and win what I think will be a much tougher game Big 12 than than do the experts. OU -20 is insane.

The Mrs. and I attended the Oklahoma Womens Basketball official season opener last night. We have season tickets on the first row on the floor which are really primo. Got lucky there.

Our meeting with the great folks from the Homeland Grocery store chain went amazingly well Friday. We will be doing a 4 store test in the four Homeland Grocery stores in Norman within the next few weeks and then who knows how things will grow? Let's hear it for the home team!

1560 The Game's radio remote went super from JR's in Norman and we had a who's who of guests Friday afternoon. Houston's big sports talk station really promoted this site and our 1560 Game Blitz is worth checking out as you get three items and free shipping for &15.60!

BBQ'ed random thoughts.....

WWE's huge European tour is gong amazingly well with lots of dollars being generated before some big crowds. London grossed over $1M which is big time for a live event.

WWE is re-establishing its brand in Germany with some successful events there. Leipzig did $500K in ticket sales with about 7,000 fans in attendance while Hamburg had over 12,000 fans on hand buying over $900K in tickets!

Lyon , France sold out at over half a million bucks so business on this particular tour from start to finish has been an overwhelming success.

Best news is that no one has been seriously injured on this tour which is super news especially with a roster with not an over abundance of depth.

I suggest you check out the Batista "I Walk Alone" DVD especially if you like the documentary style DVD's better than match compilations. Big Dave has had an interesting life that would have left most either scarred for life or in prison.

I only watched the DVR version of Undertaker vs. Jericho from Friday Night Smackdown so far and it was a strong match. Congrats to both men as I thought it was one of the best things I saw on TV this week.

Grish and Striker had another nice show. I don't think that I will be needed back on Friday Night Smackdown any time soon which is a good thing for all involved for a variety of reasons.

I read where Sean Mooney interviewing with WWE to return "spelled JR's doom" which is laughable. No offense to Sean Mooney who seems to be a nice guy and is friends with Todd Grisham but Mooney nor any one else that interviews for a job will be the difference maker in when I return or what I do when I do return. This is a classic example of a handful of wrestling fans with WAY too much free time on their hands. I wonder if their last names are all "Stone" as in Oliver or they're just simply "stoned?"

Take a seat, but I "may" start Twittering. Stay tuned.

Why does the cameras shoot young, Josh Mathews with that far away look in his eye after each backstage interview that he does? Budding cinephotoghers chime in please.

I'm anxious to see Nattie Neidhart in the ring on Friday Night Smackdown via my DVR copy. The WWE Divas need to continue to steer the course and be involved in ongoing storylines and their personas will earn more equity. It's not going to happen over night but consistency and not missing a week of TV exposure in some shape, form, or fashion will make it happen.

Madison Square Garden is sold out Monday night for Raw, well in advance, to the tune of close to $700K which is big money" down here in Oklahoma.

Survivor Series tickets are still available in Washington D.C. which, BTW, is "Our Nation's Capitol" in case one has forgotten.

Ric Flair was on the radio remote from our place yesterday via phone and Naitch got hitched again Wednesday night at his home. Congrats to the newly weds. Ric leaves Sunday for Australia where he will wrestle four times in 14 days in addition to enjoying a honeymoon of sorts. Ric sounded in great spirits and talked football with the best of 'em.

JBL also was on the radio remote from JR's via phone in NYC and talk about a guy who is awesome at radio and telling stories especially football themed stories, John knocked it out of the park. JBL is happier than he's ever been according to him in his post wrestling career and is loving life and have a blast on his many, various interests. John was a tremendous guest and is one of the great, success stories for an ex-wrestler.

I really enjoyed the Food Network presentation of Dinner Impossible Wednesday night. Chef Robert Irvine is a cool dude and many on his crew and staff are HUGE wrestling fans. Miz stole the show as I mentioned here several weeks ago. Santino was great, too. I had to leave early, I had been there 6 hours BTW after reporting for work at 6 a.m., to go back to the hotel and then head to the Staples Center to prep for Summerslam. That was an 18 hour day for yours truly but a fun day to say the least. I would love to do more projects with the Food Network in the future. Hosting BBQ Cook Off's would be a blast or any BBQ oriented shows.

Got positive results Friday on my latest CAT SCAN this time for a lung issue. Now waiting on blood test results which I hope to have next week. I was told that the nerve in my face will regenerate likely one inch per moth so that looks like it might be 3-4 months until I'm facially ready for TV....or not....it could be next week if Mother Nature decides to give this Okie a break.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope that you will head to our store and place an order. JR's products make for great holiday gift ideas and I suggest you order now and avoid any shipping issues.

Boomer Sooner!
