JR's Blog: Watts Out...Styles In...Rock...Boston SD...Order Today...Lesnar

I'm in Stamford, CT getting ready for Wednesday night's Roundtable taping. Doing prep on those two shows but having trouble not thinking about Saturday night's big Oklahoma vs. Miami Street Fight in prime time on ABC. Our store is getting busier but if you're in the ordering mood I suggest you get after it. Lots of things to over so let 's get this BBQ started.
Cowboy Bill Watts had to cancel Wednesday night's Legend's Roundtale taping due to travel issues. Joey Styles will be called out of the bulpen to host and I will move over to being member of the panel along with JJ Dillon, Jimmy Garvin, and Michael Hayes. We're still discussing wrestling managers and the culture of Southern Wrestling .
The Rock's promo that will air on Friday Night Smackdown broadcast celebrating the decade of SD is amazing. "Vintage" Rock delivery and amazing content. This interview/promo will air at the top of the second hour and is can't miss TV. Rock freely talking about hosting Raw someday was hugely received by the fans in Boston. No date has been set that I am aware of but let the speculation begin.
Same with Bret Hart as I can see Hitman returning for a guest shot but I am unclear if Bret would ever want to commit to a weekly gig with any entity. That would eliminate Hart from becoming a brand's G.M. but I could be plesantly surprised.
SD's 8 man tag team main event taped Tuesday in Boston was stout. Really good match that carried over 3 segments as I recall.
Batista vs Kane kicked off the party themed show and those two big men had a really nice bout too. Big Dave and Rey will have show stealing opportunity on Sunday at the PPV unless Morrison vs. Ziggler beats them to the punch. When several bouts have the chance to "steel the show" if's a good thing for the fans who invest in the PPV.
Shane Carwin is talking a great game hyping his upcoming fight with Brock Lesnar for UFC. I like Carwin's salesmanship but pissing off Lesnar isn't the brightest of ideas. Lesnar has that animalistic ability to focus on his prey and develop a "me against the world" mentality that helps Brock feel "pressured" and makes Brock more dangerous. I'm anxious to see this encounter. Notice, as usual, Lesnar isn't talking but you can bet your last bottle of BBQ Sauce that the former "Next Big Thing" in WWE is training like a madman. I do think that the Lesnar-Carwin fight will be nasty. Lesnar wins....I hope...much to the chagrin of "MMA Purists."
I have to admit that I shed a few tears while watching the Eddy Guerrero video that airs on SD Friday night. It brought back a flood of emotions about my personal relationship with the multi talented wrestler. I encourage you to DVR Friday's show for this and many other reasons.
Oklahoma is favored by 7 over "The U" Saturday night which is laughable. I see the Sooners as the underdogs and fighting for their lives in south Florida Saturday night in the most hostile of environments. Nonetheless I will be on the OU sideline, black hat in tow, trying to will my team to a big and I mean a big victory.
I don't see QB Sam Bradford as a factor in this game as I write this but the next two day's of practice might tell a different story for the returning Heisman Trophy winner.
I was on the Mark Madden radio in Pittsburh Tuesday while in Boston and talked Big Ben hosting Raw next Monday from Wilkes-Barre, Pa.
Check out a different side of Michael Cole who even got in a "Boomer Sooner" in one of the backstage vignetes on SD. Funny stuff.
