JR's Blog: J.R. Attends MMA Event..The Ear Controversy..New Sale Has Started Here!

Posted: Sep 18th 2009 By: mikeiles

Hope all are well and having a super day. It's game week here in Norman and hopefully when the Sooners host Tulsa this Saturday afternoon we'll get a break in the weather. People hit our place hard during football weekends using our convenient drive thru to pickup their to go orders, tailgate packs, etc. I planning on spending a good part of my Friday night at J.R.'s in Norman so if you're in town or the area come by and say hello.

BBQ'ed stuff to be interpreted any way one chooses.

Got to see my first MMA event in person Wednesday night in OKC and enjoyed it along with several of my friends who also attended a live MMA event for the first time. It was great seeing the great, Danny Hodge there as he is the Chairman of the Oklahoma Athletic Commission who sanctioned the event. MMA fans can be assured that if Hodge were in his 20's and just coming out of college after never losing a NCAA wrestling match while winning three National Titles and then, with no formal boxing training, winning the National Golden Gloves Boxing Title as the best heavyweight fighter in the United States, Dan would OWN the Mixed Martial Arts world. Hodge would have been a natural 205 pounder but could go down a weight and win or go up to heavyweight and make many large, tattooed men feel extremely uncomfortable. I enjoyed attending the event live, as I mentioned, and certainly appreciate the hospitality of the UFC folks and the Governor of Oklahoma's office on my behalf.

The ear controversy. What's up with Ted DiBiase's nasty looking ear? From what I was told the ear got infected for some unknown reason and when young Ted went to get it checked out the doctor discovered that DiBiase had tubes inserted in his ears as a child and they were never removed! However, if you are operating some of the dubious wrestling websites that exist in cyberspace feel free to make up what you choose regarding this matter much like you have about my professional future.

Cool to see HHH get the opportunity to walk to the ring Saturday night on PPV with Floyd "Money" Mayweather for Floyd's PPV fight with Juan Marquez. If I was HHH on Saturday night, I would be wearing a DX shirt but I'm sure that he and I are in much different income brackets hence he likely won't. He could always wear a J.R.'s BBQ, black T shirt which is the coolest shirt out there....where ever "there" is.

What's the over/under that the HBO announcers, the lovely and talented Jim Lampley and the Gordon Solie of boxing, Larry Merchant, even mention "The Game" simply because he is one of those 'rasslers? No one would ever want to besmirch the sanctity of professional boxing by mentioning a pro wrestler for goodness sakes.

For those websites that cut and paste, or what ever it is called, virtually my entire blog which then essentially kills the need for folks to visit our site and "maybe" go to our store and actually purchase some of our fine products, if you're going to do that please be decent enough to mention our new sales packages available NOW in our on line store that offers FREE SHIPPING on many items any where in the United States of America. I'm J.R. and I approve of this message.

If you are wondering why some WWE Superstars are on the Smackdown vs Raw 2010 video game and others aren't it's because this particular decision has to be made long in advance and several months ago the point of no return and going with what was there came and went. I had the same issues when I was the head of Talent Relations and made those decisions. One is damned if they do and damned if they don't when one has to work with such long lead times. This matter will never be resolved in my view and there will always be some wrestlers who make the game that don't deserve to and some that are left off that deserve to be included.

I read where Miami, Florida is interested in hosting Wrestlemania in 2011 or 2012. I assume many cities are in the bidding process as 'Mania brings in big money to the host city. However, if the trend is to go into stadiums for Wrestlemania events, how does one address the issue of rain especially with South Florida's lovely but rainy, at times, climate. No, I did not forget WM24 in Orlando but that was a hold one's breath deal as it related to the weather and how to deal with rain not only for the talents but for the many fans who traveled thousands of miles and paid healthy dollars to attend the show. Don't get me wrong, I love visiting Miami (well, last January wasn't so great when the Tim Tebow Gators trounced my Sooners) and have for years but it would seem to me, and no one has asked me to offer this opinion, that cities with domed stadiums would have the greatest chance of hosting the event.

Speaking of Miami, I plan on attending the OU-Miami game there on October 3 with one MVP. However, we will be on opposing sidelines as you might imagine. It would be great if The Rock would return to his alma mater for a renewal of this college football rivalry but I don't know "The Great One's" schedule but I'm sure he's as busy as usual and that's busier than a fruit merchant. Oklahoma winning on the road at "The U" won't be easy to say the least. The last time OU played Miami the Sooners won convincingly in NOrman and as I recall Mr. Dwayne Johnson became incommunicado for a few days with yurs truly.

Oh, yeah....I thought MVP looked so much better going sleeveless as he did Monday night on Raw in Toronto.

Cool award for WWE to win a CableFAX Award for the WWE 24/7 On Demand presentation of "The Soul of Wrestling" featuring the panel of Teddy Long, Tony Atlas, Dusty Rhodes, and Cowboy Bill Watts which I hosted. We could do two or three shows on this subject to be honest with you. WWE would be smart to continue to market the history of the business via the own libraries they own as I feel it gives old school fans a reason to sample some form of wrestling again and it helps educate younger fans.

My football column, that is actually becoming a hit, believe it or not, is now available at www.ouinsider.com. Check it out if you have a moment and are a football fan.

Don't forget to head over to www.wwe.com and check out my weekly blog on the Smackdown page of the site. I think it will make you smile and for you conspiracy theorits, you, my young friends will really enjoy it.

One last sales mention, hey we have to sell stuff to keep this site alive and I do enjoy communicating with you so check out the "deals" in our on line store but only if you like to 1. save money 2. get FREE SHIPPING 3. and to help a brother out.

I'm still needing more feedback on if you would be interested in a case price of 24 bags of J.R.'s Beef Jerky that would also include FREE SHIPPING in the USA.

Friday Night Smackdown is a unique show this week. I think many will like it which means that some won't. I saw some clips of it about 1 a.m. Wednesday night that looked good but you should always judge for yourself and not be swayed yeah or nay by what you read on line.

Thanks for stopping by and come back and see us. Let's hope that soon that I can say regarding our current promotion that "Business Has Picked Up!"

Boomer Sooner!
