NEWS
Max McGuirk recently started with Florida Championship Wrestling after signing a developmental deal with WWE. He is another third generation talent. His grandfather Leroy McGuirk, an NCAA champion at 155-pounds in 1931, was affiliated with the old NWA for around 50 years, and was best known for promoting wrestling during the 1970s with Bill Watts in Oklahoma, Arkansas, Mississippi and Louisiana. His mother Mike McGuirk was a WWF ring announcer from 1987-1993.

Footage has surfaced of WWE Hall of Famer Afa the Wild Samoan's World Xtreme Wrestling promotion crashing a show run by WWE Developmental territory Florida Championship Wrestling. It was reported over the weekend that a group of Afa's workers invaded the show, claiming stake to the venue in which FCW was running in Leesburg, FL. The footage, released by WXW, could demonstrate that they are gunning to become a WWE training ground of their own. Afa's WXW has already turned out such WWE talent at Batista and Snitsky. Currently, the WXW roster features Dylan Night and his manager Candilynn, Bret Thunder, and WXW champion Sugga among many others. WWE Head of Talent Relations Johnny Laurinitas was recently on hand at Afa's school to evaluate talent, fueling speculation that WXW may in fact become the next WWE developmental territory.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that Jim Ross, The Miz, Gail Kim, The Big Show, and Stephanie McMahon filmed a segment for The Food Network?s "Dinner Impossible" show that will air in November. They filmed the segment at "Summerslam".

WWE Hall of Famer Tony Atlas has not been released. He is still getting a downside guarantee.

Montel Vontavious Porter was recently interviewed by the Huffington Post. In the interview, he talks about wanting to see Ann Coulter and Arianna Huffington in a cage match at Wrestlemania. He also talks about growing up watching the first Wrestlemania, wrestling Ric Flair, cutting promos and the death rate in wrestling. To view the entire interview, click here.

In the August 31st issue of Sports Illustrated, reader William Adlin of Conshoshocken, PA wrote a letter to the editor about the Philadelphia Phillies are still the team to beat in Major League Baseball because they are the defending World Series Champions despite Joe Sheehan's article on August 10th stating otherwise. Adlin closed the letter with "As pro wrestler Ric Flair used to say 'To be the man, you have to beat the man.' Whoo!"

The rapper Cam?Ron has put out a new album and the lead single is called ?Ric Flair.?

United Kingdom based The Sun posted a small article about how a group calling themselves Citizens of TNAtion were instructed by WWE security to throw their Sting masks in the trash upon entering "Summerslam". The entire story can be viewed by clicking here.

TNA president Dixie Carter was recently interviewed promoting her appearing on TNA this Thursday. When asked regarding Sting retiring, she said Bound for Glory would be his last match in Los Angeles. When she's asked about Jeff Jarrett, she says he will be back "sooner than later". To read the entire interview, click here.

Jeff Jarrett is currently working from home regarding TNA business, but at this point, there are no plans for him to return to creative and/or as an active wrestler. He, Jeremy Borash, and Christy Hemme are heading to Australia to do promotional work for TNA. The word is that TNA is looking to run house shows in the land down under. Jarrett will be appearing with Robin Williams this Sunday at 8:30pm on Australia's best talk show, "Rove" hosted by Rove McManus, a wrestling fan who is one of the leading late night talk show hosts in the country.

A. J. Styles, Taylor Wilde, and The Beautiful People (Velvet Sky & Angelina Love) will be appearing on MTV's "Made" this Sunday. Check your local listings or visit MTV.com for more information and availability.

The Daily Citizen of Dalton, GA has a story on Consequences Creed, who is from nearby Marietta, GA. In the story he says that one of his heroes growing up was Too Cold Scorpio and he credited A. J. Styles for getting him into TNA. To read the entire story. click here.

Bill Goldberg just finished filming another season of ?Bull Run.?

Mike Dunsmore has new interviews with Randy Orton, Cryme Tyme, Roddy Piper, and many more on his YouTube channel. You can view the channel by clicking here.

ESPN.com's Bill Simmons answerred a Q7A e-mail about the term he coined called "Press Box Hot", in which any remotely attractive woman instantly becomes a supermodel when she walks into the press box. Simmons talked about different categories such as "Women's Pro Athlete Hot", "Cleaning Lady Hot", "Sports Bar Waitress Hot", and noted his personal favorite as "'80s Female Pro Wresting Hot". Regarding "'80s Female Pro Wresting Hot," Simmons wrote: "When I was 14, along with everyone else in my age range, I absolutely believed that (A) Wendi Richter was super-attractive, (B) Miss Elizabeth wasn't just beautiful, but classier than Princess Di or Nancy Reagan, and (C) I would sacrifice 10 solid years off the tail end of my life to see Missy Hyatt naked for 10 seconds. As far as I can tell, that's the widest swing between "actual attractiveness" and "perceived attractiveness," which is why '80s Female Pro Wrestling Hot' tops everything else, including 'Press Box Hot' and 'Sports Collector Convention Hot'. I'm glad I'm here." Thanks to the article, Missy Hyatt was the 53rd most searched for topic on Google on Friday.

Doug Furnas' wife Marty recently had open heart surgery to remove a tumor. Furnas tagged on a regular basis with Dan Kroffat, aka Phil LaFon. in the 1990's.
