NEWS
Brent Albright underwent successful surgery Thursday for a blood clot in his calf from an injury sustained on July 25th in Toronto. The injury worsened and he ended up with a clot the size of a golf ball, which could be serious if not taken care of. He is still expected to be able to wrestle at the next Ring of Honor TV tapings on August 14th.

Jack Swagger was interviewed on Colorado Springs 96.1 Da Beat FM. He was on the phone in Denver from where they were hosting the WWE Smackdown/ECW/Raw house show he was commenting on how tickets were too cheap for him appearing in Colorado, and how he was talking about Randy Orton and Legacy and how he is good friends with them. He also mentioned in the interview that he is going to become United States Champion at Summerslam. He also was talking about the contest there having tomorrow at the event where a lucky winner will face Kofi Kingston and win a new 52 inch Sony HDTV and PS3 with SmackDown vs. RAW 2009.

WWE is currently working on DVD releases for Chris Jericho, The Big Show, "Million Dollar Man" Ted DiBiase, C. M. Punk, and The Iron Sheik. All are slated for a late 2009 or 2010 release.

WWE Hall of Famer Tony Atlas has been removed from ECW roster page.

WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair will be unveiled as the official face of the Carolina lottery within the next few weeks.

A case study was just published in the Journal of Aviation, Space and Environmental Medicine by David Hardy about a patient he aerovacuated out of Iraq in 2007 who thought he was Ric Flair.

Tickets went on sale this week for TNA's "Bound For Glory" pay-per-view event on October 18th in Los Angeles, CA. Local advertising for the event is teasing the idea that this could be Sting's farewell show with the company. The Wrestling Observer Newsletter is reporting that Sting has not signed a new deal with TNA for 2010, although TNA has interest in keeping him on the roster. While Sting has said every year that he is done, he eventually gives in to the new offer from TNA and stays. However, now that Sting is 50 years old, there are some who believe he actually could be finishing up this year. He is one of the few in wrestling who have made enough and invested it well in real estate that he doesn't need to really continue a career in wrestling.

A. J. Styles is not booked on the next TNA overseas tour because his wife is pregnant and the due date falls in the middle of the tour.

Dixie Carter and family quietly bought Jeff Jarrett's shares in TNA a short time back. Kurt Angle has been lobbying for Jarrett's position as head of creative.

Jeff Jarrett pulled out of his fanfest appearance. The promoters were told Wednesday night he wouldn't be coming in due to personal reasons.

Tons of turmoil in TNA. Right now, Jeff Jarrett is still in, but a lot of people are burying him

Jim Cornette has been unofficially helping with the booking of TNA since Jeff Jarrett is currently out of the picture, and the recent release of Dutch Mantel.

Several online sources are reporting that TNA has released Dutch Mantel and Savio Vega from their backstage staff and more cuts are also planned. Mantel has been very close to Jeff Jarrett in the past, started working with the company shortly after TNA debuted as a pay-per-view promotion. He also worked for both WCW and WWE in the past, and has been working for TNA since 2003 as a writer and agent although recently he was given the job of a writer with the creative team as a full time job. He is often credited for putting the TNA women's division on the map. Vega, also a former WWE worker, has been with TNA since last year where he worked as a road agent.

There is a video posted about Dutch Mantel possibly returning to Puerto Rico after being released by TNA. You can view the video by clicking here.

Funny and interesting webcast done by Jeremy Borash and Mick Foley (Tweak & Tweet Connection) recorded live from Baton Rouge, LA just hours before the house show Saturday afternoon. They even got a special guest quickly on the show, who made his return recently on the road with TNA. If you have an hour to kill, go check it out, it's fun and with plenty of interesting things from the "Tweak-Man" Mick Foley. You can view it by clicking here.

Mick Foley was recently interviewed by King Jordan for his hotline. In the interview, Foley talks about leaving TNA for WWE, plus the famous Hell in the Cell Match, Sting, and much more. The entire interview can be heard by calling (212) 560-2255.

Last weekend Mick Foley was signing autographs and said he would send the proceeds to Steve Williams who is sick after taking 7 hrs Cemo on Tuesday making his sick, hurting his bones, and having a hard time walking.

TNA's Mick Foley ended up at a live event promoted by River City Wrestling last Saturday at the San Antonio Event Center in San Antonio, TX., where he got up close with 26 year old porn star Trina Michaels. Foley was about to shove Mr. Socko down her throat - no pun intended - however the multiple time AVN Award nominee gently directed Socko on her breast and Foley did not complain. However Michaels dropped down to her knees - again, no pun intended - and gave him a low blow and exited the ring afterward. Foley then grabbed the mic and said it took him twelve hours to get to San Antonio and he didn't come all the way to get "hit....there." He then told Michaels that "What happens at the Event Center stays in the Event Center." You can watch video from the Mick Foley/Trina Michaels deal last weekend by clicking here.

The Pro Wrestling Torch website reports that the rumor that circulated on some message boards and websites on Thursday, July 30th, of the death of wrestling legend Verne Gagne is false. His son Greg Gagne shot down the rumor, saying he saw him in-person on Thursday afternoon....and in fact said "[It's] not true, he's alive.... I just took him out to lunch."

The Star Phoenix is Saskatchewan has an article on their website about UFC star Kenny Florian. He noted being a big pro wrestling fan of Hulk Hogan and Andre the Giant growing up in Boston. You can read the entire article by clicking here.
