JR's Blog: Monday Night Raw Thoughts...But Wait...That's Not All

Posted: Jul 8th 2009 By: CMBurnham

I enjoyed Monday Night Raw as it aired, no DVR here Mister, from the comfort of our living room and my strategically placed La-Z-Boy with a cold beverage within arm's reach. Here are my personal opinions of the broadcast.....

The Million Dollar Man, Ted DiBiase, came off as the shining star of the program in my view. MDM was a new face/voice and add a fresh element to the show that worked for me. Every weekly, episodic TV broadcast, including and especially a wrestling show needs "new" and DiBiase provided "new."

DiBiase's promos felt natural and on point. Give the man some bullet points and turn him loose. Good, verbal stuff all night from Teddy....hey, I've known him since day one and I can call him Teddy if I choose. I saw the man wrestle Dick Murdoch and Ric Flair on Mid South Wrestling so back off, Jack!

Edge and Jericho, two uber talented Canadians who reside permanently on Friday Night Smackdown, the show that "J. R. was exiled to," are a helluva duo. Sigh.

Can Carlito and Primo grow and evolve on the same TV show without it always being about the two of them at odds? My suggestion would be to do another trade and move one of them off Raw and to another brand. Can Primo become the "next Eddy Guerrero?" That might be challenging.

Gail Kim. "Oh, My." Keep an eye on Alicia Fox as she's special too as in "Vintage."

Just think if hair extensions did not exist and how it would affect the wrestling business. Brother!

I was thinking, if Cody Rhodes wears polka dots, we riot in the Ross household or perhaps, even worse, check out weather on the 8's. Whew.

RKO vs. DiBiase=A Wrestlemania Main Event some day in this decade.

Lilian Garcia is reportedly, by her on admission, leaving soon to get married and perhaps start a family. I wish Lilian well, love her voice, and can't wait for her "book" to come out. That last part was a joke.

MVP and Jack Swagger seemed motivated Monday night. Nice segment. Well done gentleman. both men are keepers and Swagger, yes, I now he's an Okie and I'm biased but this is my website, is a PPV main eventer waiting to happen. Swagger vs. Orton or Cena or HHH would be cool.

Matt Hardy has had surgery according to Matt Hardy so I guess we won't be seeing Matt on SD for a few weeks. Matt needs some good luck and a few main event ops. My advice to Matt is to rely on your instincts, Twitter your ass off while you are on the mend, come back with the mindset that no one is better, don't date any more Divas, and do not use one, Dr. Heiney. I'm just saying.

Jerry Lawler can't be serious about running for Mayor of Memphis again. Can he? Why King Why? If Lawler becomes Mayor of Memphis and if somebody in Hollywood doesn't produce a reality show on it or document King's term for a feature length film someone is not paying attention. Just say no Jerry.

Mark Henry was very impressive verbally Monday night if one can read lips.

I don't mean to be mean spirited but I am officially on Michael Jackson overload. It will be "weave world" at the memorial in LA on Tuesday which will certainly be a nightmare to police. No because of the weaves but because of all the folks who will want to be there without tickets. Please, let the "King of Pop" rest in peace.

Frank MIr successfully pisses off everyone within ear shot in his WWE-like hype to sell PPV's for his fight with Brock Lesnar this Saturday at UFC 100. The more MIr knocks pro wrestling the more he sounds like a wrestling villain even though it's Lesnar who will be booed out of Vegas Saturday evening. Miz was allegedly at 249 pounds Monday while Lesnar is 30 pounds heavier. Lesnar is a gnarly animal who is ready to consume ample quantities of red meat and Saturday can't come soon enough for the former WWE Champion who just had a son with wife Sable/Rena. To the Lesnar's, congrats on that and best of luck Sunday. I just hope Brock doesn't get over anxious and make a silly mistake. If Brock stays under control and smart he will beat Mir like a government mule.

GSP is in for a helluva fight that some insiders think GSP might well lose on Saturday. I have to see that one to believe it.

Chelsea Handler of "Chelsea Lately" fame on E Entertainment TV would have made one helluva, great valet back in the 'rasslin territory days. Chelsea has raised being caustic to an art form.

Friday Night Smackdown features a long, fantastic IC Title bout between Rey Mysterio and Chris Jericho. Trust me...this match is excellent and should be at the very least DVR'ed.

Thanks for checking out our site and for supporting our on line store. We need and want your business but I often wonder how many of you who are regulars have never checked out our store yet much less have never placed an order with us.

We have some great products, fairly priced and ready to ship to you ASAP.

Be well and count your many blessings. thanks, again.
