The Scoop

NEWS
The main reason WWE brought Ric Flair in to Charlotte on June 15th for "Monday Night Raw" was for the word to leak out that he was in the middle and imply he would become the new general manager of Raw. Obviously, many fans were disappointed that Flair wasn't used on the show at all.

Elaine Gillespie of The Gillespie Agency who handles booking for Ric Flair sent out the following statement from Flair: "I will always be a part of the WWE family, however I am still anxious to get out there and meet my fans in person. I have had a great time doing just that since my retirement! My agent is currently negotiating appearances across the US and several abroad that will allow me to meet my fans around the world. I am very excited about these new opportunities! WooooOOOooo!" Flair has not yet signed anything with WWE so he is still putting his name out there for personal appearances. While there were plans to use him as a regular on TV a few week's ago, Vince McMahon has apparently changed his mind again.

After the passing of Billy Red Lyons, Chris Jericho commented the following on Twitter: "RIP Billy Red Lyons. Doncha dare miss it!"

Hacksaw Jim Duggan is away filming a new Wrestling documentary entitled "False Finish" alongside WWE Hall of Famers The Iron Sheik & Superstar Billy Graham.

Roddy Piper was a guest on WBCN radio in Boston. The interview included a few road stories about Ric Flair. He also mentioned that WWE just called him about coming back. To hear the entire interview, click here.

There is a short piece reported on WFSB in Connecticut about the movie "Opponent" being filmed soon in Berlin, Rocky Hill, and Wethersfield, CT that stars Roddy Piper. The movie is about the owner of a junkyard who offers a reward to someone who can kill the aliens that crashed into her barn. You can view the story by clicking here. Piper is the lead in the movie, playing a priest.

The latest "TNA Spin Cycle" is online with Angelina Love, Raven, Scott Steiner, and Alex Shelley. At the start of the show Jeremy Borash played an audio clip of Eric Bischoff knocking him during a radio interview. What ensues with Mick Foley is hilarious. To view the entire show, click here.

At Thursday's "TNA iMPACT!" television taping in Orlando, FL, they shot three pilot episodes of "The Spin Cycle" to pitch to Spike TV execs as an additional show to "iMPACT!". These are roundtable discussions similar to the shows hosted by Jim Ross on WWE 24/7.

In his latest blog, Mick Foley wrote about his upcoming book. He said those looking for him to bash the WWE will be disappointed: "My feelings for the company, and for Vince himself, are largely positive, even if I am very happy not to be there anymore." Foley said that he has pledged 50 percent of the proceeds from his book to charity. To view the blog in its entirety, click here.

Shane Douglas suffered an ankle injury early in his match with Daniels at TNA's "Slammiversary" pay-per-view event, which obviously had an impact on their bout.

After TNA World Champion Kurt Angle defeated Mick Foley and Jeff Jarrett at the "TNA iMPACT!" television taping in Orlando, FL on June 24th, Scott Steiner and Kevin Nash tied up Foley in barbed wire and beat up Foley's security (Rocco and Sal E.). Foley's new security team, led by Bugsy McGraw, came out to make the save.

Iron Mike Sharpe Jr. has landed a part in the upcoming Sean Penn movie "Cartel" which is slated for release in early 2010.

The story on B. Brian Blair's Fathers Day arrest made Monday's print edition of The St. Petersburg Times. Blair was released from jail Monday morning after the investigation was handed over to the Florida State Department of Children and Families. He faces two felony counts of child abuse. Speaking outside the courthouse to Bay News 9, Blair said his arrest was just a huge misunderstanding. "I have over 7,000 hours mentoring children," he said. "The last thing I'd ever do is hurt a kid. Sometimes the hardest kids to mentor are your own." You can see the video of Blair walking out of jail and talking to the reporters by clicking here.

Mike Graham defended Brian Blair?s recent actions in an online blog, saying Blair was only trying to defend his wife from his son. You can read the entire article by clicking here.

Bubba the Love Sponge had Ted DiBiase on last week to promote some Fathers Day event for FCW. They were going over his career and his favorite matches/opponents and of course discussed working with Hulk Hogan. Someone on the show asked about why Hogan never seemed to work a program with Jake Roberts. In fact, Bubba recounted a story he'd heard that Hogan did one test match with Roberts at a house show, then went and told McMahon, "I'm never working with that guy again." DiBiase stated that he had no knowledge of whether or not the story happened as Bubba recounted, and they went on to another subject. Hogan was on later that morning (Wednesday) and gave his side: Apparently he was willing to work with Roberts so they did the match. It was going according to the "Hogan script" except Hogan couldn't hear the crowd reacting to anything: the heel working him over, the cut-off comeback attempt, and the final Superman hulking up and leg drop. In Hogan's mind, that just meant that Roberts wasn't over enough as a heel to work with him in a main event program.

Wrestler's Rescue has a new auction up to help raise $20,000 to get a hands-free voice box for Dr. Death Steve Williams at WrestlersRescue.org.
