The Scoop

NEWS
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that the names of Randy Savage and The Ultimate Warrior are off the table for consideration for the WWE Hall of Fame. No surprise for Savage, but perhaps a bit of surprise for The Warrior since Wrestlemania is heading to Phoenix next year.

John Bradshaw Layfield has a new blog on WWE.com talking about how happy his wife is since his fanny pack broke, and how Michael Hayes is the only person he's ever seen who has worn one with a suit. "And, I have to defend myself - I never wore it, I just used it to carry my valuables to the gym."

WWE has released developmental talents Lupe Santiago, Jon Cutler (Jon Skrypnyk), and second generation wrestler Dakota Darsow, son of former WWE wrestler Barry Darsow, from the Florida Championship Wrestling roster.

Ric Flair claimed in last Friday's New York Daily News that the decision to quit Ring of Honor was all his idea. He said: "I announced I would be leaving them (ROH) last week at the Philadelphia show because it would be on HDNet and I felt it wasn't right for me to be appearing for the WWE and ROH while singing the praises of both. I only have a verbal agreement with them to make appearances." When ask about wrestling again, he said: "Well, let me say that under very special conditions I would consider wrestling again."

Time Warner On Demand has A. J. Styles vs. Kurt Angle from last year's TNA "Slammiversary" show on their Events Free Preview.

Mick Foley voiced a character called Thunder Clap on this week's episode of "Squidbillies" on Adult Swim.

Mick Foley blogged about his upcoming books. He said while researching new material that he flipped through his last bio The Hardcore Diaries and now understands why some people in WWE were less than thrilled about what he wrote: "I was really pretty rough on the company, and three years after writing it, I'm shocked that the powers that be (mainly Vince) allowed so many negative musings to be published. Don't get me wrong, I don't personally regret writing any of it, but I am really surprised that the book wasn't edited down to matchbook size." To read the blog in its entirety, click here.

On WhosSlamminWho.podomatic.com, Jim Cornette verbally attacks Joey Styles for over 10 minutes straight (without taking a breath) over Styles' views on President Barack Obama.

Jim Cornette updated the Q&A section of his website. Triple H made his list of overrated wrestlers. Cornette wrote: "For the present, let's go with Hunter Hearst Helmsley-McMahon. Actually, he's a very good worker and studies the business. His promos are usually as exciting as a coma and last longer than this recession, but he has good matches. Problem is, as hard as he's been crammed down people's throats for the past 10 years, he should have surpassed Hogan, Austin, and Rock, but HHH is what is called in the business 'the guy that works with the guy that draws money.' He should be in there to have a good match and put the star over. Actually, he should have been fired in 1996 when he shit on the entire sport with the infamous 'curtain call' at MSG, but Vince, the guy with balls of steel, let HHH piss in his face and not only didn't do anything about it, but let him marry his daughter! And a sledgehammer? Jesus Christ, I wish he'd hit me in the head with it before he starts talking on TV. HHH will be the top guy in the WWE until he looks like Dick the Bruiser in his final days working an Indiana county fair show, and if THAT'S not overrated, I don't know what is." For more pearls of wisdom check out JimCornette.com.

Garrett Borden, the oldest son of Sting, is a fullback on the Azusa Pacific University football team, a private evangelical Christian university just outside of Los Angeles.

Francine announced that Shane Douglas will be inducted into a "Hardcore Hall Of Fame" on June 27th at her "Legends of the Arena" ECW reunion show. They have just cut ticket prices. More information at MySpace.com/LegendsoftheArena.

In a recent interview with WorldWrestlingInsanity.com, Sam Houston commented on how his brother Jake Roberts has portrayed their father, Grizzly Smith: "It's inaccurate, but there're a whole lot of things you have to look at. OK? And I guess, I'm an alcoholic. I'm addicted to something. I'm addicted to a substance and that substance is not good for me. Now, to get that substance when I was in my addiction, I would lie. I would cheat. I would steal. I would do whatever it took me to do to get my substance because I'm addicted to that substance and when you're addicted to something like this, there is no reality in life. That's all you can focus on. 'Cause I don't want to contradict my brother ? Mine and my father's relationship was very, very good. My father and I are probably closer than any two people you'd ever meet. There's a special bond there. We've been through really, really hard times together."

Al Snow has a role in an upcoming independent film called "Hell's Lake".

A 73 minute interview with Paul Orndorff is available at 57Talk.com.

Kimbo Slice is featured on a pay-per-view that is called "Money Talks: What's Your Price" that debuts on June 15th for one hour. It's basically a knock off on the 1980's Ted DiBiase skits where they pay people money to do humiliating things.
