JR's Blog: A Late Night Call From the Naitch...Thoughts on Kennedy..20,000 Fans attend WWE Mexico City Event

Posted: May 31st 2009 By: mikeiles

I hope your Sunday is going well. I am a little under the weather but nothing that I won't kick out of in a few hours. It's nice to have cell #'s of doctors/friends, none of them named Black BTW, who can help a fellow out without having to hit the emergency room for immediate care. Today's random thoughts are all over the road just to give you a head's up. Let's roll.

It is regrettable that WWE decided to release Mr. Kennedy, that ring name will be long gone, as he was at the age to really begin to come into his own. Injuries have plagued the Wisconsin native for a good part of his career but as best I know Kennedy is 100% as we speak. Without question, Kennedy has a definable upside and he will hopefully continue his journey in this biz and make his dreams become realties. Take it from me being released isn't the end of the world and things in our lives have a way of working out for the best unless one throws in the towel and simply says "what the hell?" As I mentioned before, a change of scenery sometimes is what the doctor ordered. Hopefully this will work out for the best for all involved. For the record, I do not know why Kennedy was released and look at that matter as none of my business.

Torrie Wilson told me that her fellow competitor Spencer Pratt on NBC's "I'm a Celebrity..Get Me Out Of Here!" is like a wrestling territory's most despised wrestling manager. In other words, Spencer isn't well liked and my bet is that he sheds more tears than some of the women on the reality show. I hope wrestling fans will tune into NBC and support Torrie. Remember her Boise State team once upset mighty Oklahoma in the Fiesta Bowl so why couldn't lovely Torrie end up on top (no pun intended) in this competition. Torrie said, "I'm not prissy little thing and am not afraid to get dirty." (That should give the message board geeks plenty of the visuals they seemingly need.) Torrie maneuvering through the jungle in a bikini is enough motivation for me to watch this offering from NBC.

WWE.com has really evolved in recent weeks and I loved the headline, from a BBQ biz perspective, using the term Pulled Pork while they described Raw G.M. Vickie Guerrero as she prepares to get sloppy and dirty with "Santina" in a Hog Pen Match at Extreme Rules PPV. Surely, I know, don't call you Shirley, there won't be LIVE hogs in the pen when Vicki and Santina are "grappling" will they? Vickie takes a verbal beating on Raw and wouldn't it be funny if she prevailed at Extreme Rules?

We slow smoke our pulled pork for 12 full hours over hickory and pull it by hand which then results in the best pulled pork you'll find any where just in case you are wondering.

Another WWE.com nugget are the several blogs a week that The Fink writes which are very good by the way and garner great numbers but they end with the Jim Rome term, "I'm Out." What's that about??

My uninformed guess is that Kofi Kingston might well win a fan favorite bout against MVP Monday night in Birmingham on Raw and become the new United States Champion. My reasoning? MVP had his prom date experience with Sherri Sheppard this weekend which I am speculating will alter Montel's game on Monday night. MVP & Sherri do make a cute couple and I assume this date will be discussed on ABC's "The View" at some point.

Did you see the "Likened to Legends" feature on WWE.com that compared Matt Hardy to Bret Hart? Sounds like somebody went to happy hour before finishing that feature. You should check it out.

Over 5,000 fans attended a WWE live event in Chattanooga on Saturday night. That's the building that my pal Bob Caudle and I were broadcasting a "Clash of the Champions" from and some one nailed Bob with an egg that was intended for Jim Cornette. In those days the announce table butted right up against the ring and our table was in the bad guy's corner. That never happened again. We went to a neutral corner which worked much better.

Huge crowd in Mexico City Saturday night with over 20,000 fans in the arena grossing a whopping $650K at the box office. I wonder how many Rey Mysterio masks were sold on the four day WWE tour of Mexico?

Someone needs to help the WGN voice over guy how to pronounce Cena as in CEE-NA and not SAY-NA. Come on brother work with us.

I am flying from OKC to Houston to Birmingham to broadcast one bout with Todd "Gel Man" Grisham Monday night which I hear through the grapevine might be a tag bout involving Rey Mysterio and a partner vs. Chris Jericho and a partner. Rey won't have any issues finding a partner but the same can't be said for "Lexicon Madness" as opposed to "Lion Heart" Chris Jericho.

LeBron James has one more year on his contract with the Cleveland Cavaliers and unless the Cavs have a huge off season adding some much needed parts to the equation and get #23 some help, it would seem it would be a slam dunk that King James would be playing for someone else after next season.

Because of the way our site is set up, please do not send me any links you want me to see as I can't access them directly from our Q&A Section, which is updated by the way. For instance, someone send me a You Tube link to comments made by Jeff Jarrett that were not flattering to yours truly and were fabrications to boot but as the wrestling business has proven time and time again why let the facts get in the way of a good story. I have never wished any ill will on TNA, I have many friends working there, but I really have no interest in what Jeff Jarrett may have to say about any subject that I can think of at the moment.

What Jeff has to say about my friendship with Steve Austin or how he remembers his last days in WWE is comparable to how entertaining it is watching the Great Khali or me dance. It's not for everybody. Jeff has the right to his opinion and I the right to mine but we both know the truth.

I know that there are many "Laker Lovers" out there but for any one to think that the Magic are going to roll over and fold their tent during the NBA Finals is sadly mistaken. Can the Lakers handle Dwight Howard is the question.

When will we next see Ric Flair in a WWE ring? Will it be as early as Monday Night? Naitch called me late Friday night and told me he would see me in a few days, whatever that means. It was late and it was Friday night and it was loud where ever Ric was which I assume wasn't the public library. Flair "wrestling" in WWE still seems unlikely. Ric wrestling outside the USA seems like a gimme.

We are hopefully about 2-3 weeks away from our manufacturer getting us our Chipolte Ketchup and HOT BBQ sauce, both in plastic, 18 oz bottles that will reduce our shipping costs. The main event sauce, J.R.'s Original BBQ Sauce is now in stock in the plastic bottles and ready for immediate shipping. Why not buy a case of 12? Shelf life is over one year.

OU football players report for Summer school this Monday which means that they will start their voluntary workouts with highly skilled and feared strength and conditioning coach Jerry Schmidt which separates the men from the boys. Getting back to the BCS National Title Game this year won't be easy becuae the Sooners must win the Big 12 South AND the Big 12 Title Game which will help in Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas this December. It arguable that the Big 12 South might be the toughest division in all of college football this season.

Please do some shopping and we will do our best to ship it to you within hours of receiving your order. Also, I invite you to spend a few moments perusing our Q&A Section of this site.

Be well and count your blessings.

Boomer Sooner!
