A new documentary depicting wrestling in Kansas City entitled "K.C. on the Mat" was released last Thursday with a free showing at Memorial Hall in Kansas City, KS. Orville Brown, Bob Geigel, Harley Race, Roger Kirby, Bob Brown, and Rufus R. Jones are just some of the names covered in the documentary. A few people with Oklahoma wrestling ties attended the event including Jake Boulder, Butch Reed, and MWA referee Clinton Starks.

Mid-States Wrestling gave out their "Best of 2008" awards as voted by the fans at its show this past weekend in Harrison, AR. Jason Jones was named Most Popular Wrestler and Best All Around Wrestler. Michael Barry's turn on long-time manager Stephen E was the Most Shocking Moment of 2008. Match of the Year was Bubba Hall, Lisa Johnson, & David O'Neal defeating Team Cothern (Cast-Iron Cothern, Shane Morbid, & Boss Campbell) on May 3rd of last year. Stephen E won Most Hated and his award was accepted on his behalf by Gary Gram, who put a piece of tape over Stephen's name, wrote his own name on the tape, and carried the award to the ring with him for his match.

HDNet released a commercial featuring Ric Flair promoting his Ring of Honor TV appearance on May 2nd. You can view it on YouTube by clicking here.

In the newest issue of Rolling Stone, on of the headlines reads "Hulk Hogan wrestles with his demons". There is a 6 page article, granted 2 pages of him were a montage of pictures. The article talks in depth about Hogan's rise in professional wrestling to basically how is he a broken down old man, both physically and mentally. Interestingly, about half of the article talked about how much pain is he in from wrestling. The article made him sound like what Ric Flair was doing back in the 70's and 80's, wrestling one hour matches every week. He talks about his divorce in great length and there is some really great quotes from a adviser on "Hogan Knows Best" that paints Linda Hogan as a really dark and shady person. Also, some quotes from Bret "The Hitman" Hart that make Bret sound like a bitter older man and really shows his insecurity's.

Roddy Piper and his daughter, Ariel, 23, have roles in an horror movie just released called "The Portal" with Michael Masden.

WrestlingSuperStore.com is now selling an exclusive two pack of Kane and Vader created by Jakks Pacific.

Beth Phoenix and Kofi Kingston will be promoting the annual Smackdown Your Vote campaign on Monday, April 27th at Central High School on Lincoln Boulevard in Bridgeport, CT.

The new WWE DVD "Greatest Stars of the 90s" has come out. In the chapter on Ric Flair, there was a glaring error on a graphic. When showing him winning the WWF title at the 1992 Royal Rumble, they had it on the screen as Royal Rumble - January 24, 1993 when he was not even the WWF Champion in any part of 1993. The correct date for that Royal Rumble was January 19, 1992. Bret Hart was already the WWF Champion on January 24, 1993. The fact that this error slipped by all the folks working there is mind boggling.

Jim Cornette, who once said "hell would freeze over" before he joined the Internet, has launched a new website at JimCornette.com to push his book on the Midnight Express. He also wrote a blog pretty much ripping on the WWE creative team. He raises some really good points but sadly it's hard to take serious when he works under Vince Russo and draws a TNA pay check.

Jim Cornette will be on Observer Radio in a couple of weeks.

TNA World Champion Mick Foley posted on Myspace about winning the TNA title. "I know there is no way to make everyone happy, and from what I've gathered, not everyone is, but the best I could hope for is to work hard and hope that I was happy with the match. And I was. Actually, I was thrilled with it." He also noted that he, Vince Russo, and Jeremy Borash worked together for a video piece for TV called "A Day at Home with the new champion." He said it was not scripted, and Jessica, his massage therapist, on the piece really is a blind orphan from Viet Nam who raised three children on her own. Foley also noted he collected items from several TNA wrestlers at the tapings this week to auction off for Dawn Marie's "Wrestlers Rescue" to raise money for Steve Williams. "Wrestlers Rescue" is selling a replica World title belt signed by Chris Jericho, Rey Mysterio, John Cena, Ric Flair and Dusty Rhodes at Shop.eBay.com/Merchants/DrDeathCampaign. The money raised will be used to get Williams a hands free voice box.

Regarding usage of the name Cactus Jack, even though WWE has a trademark for the name, because Mick Foley used the name prior to WWE, he can continue to use it. The Cactus Jack names dates back to working indies. The reason that doesn't work for the Dudleys (AKA Team 3D) is because that name was given to them by Paul Heyman in ECW, and thus it originated in a promotion that was purchased by WWE. There are other aspects of that story in that they believed Heyman had signed over the rights to the name to them, but evidently they decided against fighting that case in court because it's a lot of money and they are the same team either way.

TNA Wrestling's insane dealmaker Don West and ShopTNA.com are teaming up for the debut of a new section called "Collector's Corner". The official online merchandise store of Total Nonstop Action Wrestling will be featuring ongoing autographed specials featuring your favorite TNA Superstars, including Sting, Jeff Jarrett, A. J. Styles, Team 3D, the TNA Knockouts and many more! The "Collector's Corner" area also includes signed merchandise from TRISTAR - the official trading card company of TNA Wrestling.

Chuck Palumbo said he is talking to Jeff Jarrett about coming to TNA.

A full twenty five years after his death, Video Service Corp celebrates Andy Kaufman?s unique brand of comedy with the release in Canada of "My Breakfast With Blassie" and "I?m From Hollywood" on May 12, 2009, with a suggested retail price of $24.98 for the two DVD set. "My Breakfast With Blassie" was filmed in 1983 and features Kaufman and Freddie Blassie as they meet for breakfast and discuss wrestling, hygiene, stardom and whether to eat bacon or sausage. he 1989 film I?m From Hollywood chronicles Kaufman?s transformation into a wrestling heel like none other, taking a wrestling match into a feud against trainer Jerry Lawler and the state of Tennessee, as only Kaufman could. This is Kaufman at his most dangerous, exposing the soft white underbelly of American culture, while sacrificing his own career to a level of performance art that has not been replicated since his death on May 16, 1984. Bonus features for this film include a hilarious photo gallery of letters Kaufman received from women ready to take him on after he publicly taunted female wrestlers, commentary from producer Lynne Marguilies, footage of Jerry Lawler at the Egyptian Theater in Hollywood and more.

Pro Wrestling Unplugged has suspended operations indefinitely and the April 25th show in Cherry Hill, NJ that was advertised as having Jim Neidhart, Ron Simmons, and the return of The Gangstas (Mustafa & New Jack) was canceled.

George Mayfield posted the following about The Great Kabuki on PWBTS.com: "I hope this update finds
everyone in the "Very Best Of Health". Let me start by saying, with regards to The Great Kabuki, and a possible appearance at the August Legends Fanfest In Charlotte. I spoke to Kabuki last week for about 15 minutes. He told me that he hadn't responded sooner, because he was trying to find a way to keep his business open, during their busy season. Here's the deal. The Summer months are his busiest time of the year. The majority of his customers come to the restaurant to eat, talk & take photo's with him. If he's not there, business suffers. While we made him a great offer, combined with the fact "THAT HE WANTED TO COME", this could not offset what his absence would cost his business. He told me he had visited the website www.nwalegends.com several times. He talked about his program with Dusty Rhodes, while in the Mid South area. Jackie Fargo, The Fantastics, the thought of meeting other former World Class stars, and returning to the Mid Atlantic area. He said he had GREAT memories, but the present and future, outweigh the past. If Greg did this in October, he'd be available. I said this is an annual August event. Bottom Line: The Great Kabuki "WILL NOT" be joining us at The Legends Fanfest."
