The Scoop

NEWS
Bill Mercer and Lacey Von Erich will be guests on tonight's edition of Monday Night Mayhem. The show starts at 8pm Eastern/7pm Central. Among the topics discussed will be discussed what the family has planned for the Induction Ceremonies/WrestleMania weekend, Michael "P.S." Hayes inducting the family, & what the family's in-ring legacy has left for today's generation of fans/up-and-coming superstars. Plus, Lacey will discuss the latest on Jimmy Hart's all-new "Wrestlicious" television show, her involvement in the project, as well as the latest on the rumors of her gracing the cover/pages of Playboy Magazine. You can hear the show at MondayNightMayhem.com.

Hillbilly Jim announced that on his show next week, he will have Ted DiBiase Sr. on the show. The show is on Saturdays from 10am to 2pm (Eastern) & replayed Sundays from 2pm to 6pm (Eastern) on Sirius Satellite Radio channel 63 & XM Radio channel 12. He says DiBiase will be on the last hour of his show.

There is a website at [url=http://www.celebritydetective.com}CelebrityDetective.com[/url] which looks at the value of celebrity homes. They have John Cena, The Big Show, and Bill Goldberg, listed among many others.

Slam Wrestling interviewed "Rowdy" Roddy Piper on "The Wrestler." He said he told Mickey Rourke after watching the movie that his Randy the Ram character hit home: "What stood out to me as a wrestler was that at no time did that character ever get physical outside the ring. And that's very typical; most of us are pretty soft outside of the ring. But even more so than that, the thing that probably grabbed me the hardest was the way it ended. All my brothers are dead, man. So, at the end, it caught me because it just went to black, and that's how it happens in our world. Look at Curt Hennig -- he was the picture of health. And boom! Black. Not fade to black, just black. I've been to so many funerals." He said he wondered why nobody on the outside has caught on and tried to do something more to prevent wrestler deaths. He said the life of a wrestler is brutal, especially the travel. He talked about a trip in 1991 where he did an afternoon and evening show in England, then flew to Connecticut to do five hours of voice overs for TV, then flew to Alaska, wrestled there, flew back to Seattle, rented a car and drove 160 miles home. "It's tough to make that route without a shot of whiskey," he said. He also brought up that there should be a union in wrestling, like everyone does after they retire. "The WWE have done some wonderful things for wrestlers. But we can't keep on dying. The wrestlers give their hearts -- they give the best part of their lives. So as the success goes on, why aren't they being taken care of?"

WWE Hall of Famer "Rowdy" Roddy Piper has a role in a straight-to-DVD horror movie called "A Gothic Tale". The movie is described as "an emotional and violent journey that examines love, emotional greed and personal choice, as well as challenges one's own sense of morality, loyalty, and the consequences of spiritual compromise." You can find out more at AGothicTale.com.

Ricky Steamboat said he is happy Ric Flair is inducting him into the WWE Hall of Fame: "That was a great choice for me personally having 'The Naitch' induct me. He is going to induct a guy who he has wrestled against so many times. When people talk about the two of us, every time I am asked about him, it is about the respect we have brought to each other. We brought each other along early in our career when we were young back in the 1970s. What a fitting moment for him to induct me. Here we are with Ricky Steamboat, Ric Flair and Steve Austin in the same night. What a great moment." He said he is 80 percent of what he was 15 years ago when he retired in 1994.

The plan for the Chris Jericho-Ric Flair angle on last week's Raw the "Nature Boy" to bleed. From all reports, Flair insisted upon on it. Flair needed to have 12 staples in his forehead to stop the bleeding.

The Honky Tonk Man commented on his web site about Ric Flair: "For the things he said about me in his book, I will finally get a chance to confront him in Conn. this coming Friday night. If he dodges me, I will confront him on Sunday night in Mass. If he dodges me again, I will confront him at HOF, and if he skates on me there I will catch him at Mania. I want to know why he says I would be nothing without a Hogan rub when I spent 12 years working main events before I went to WWE with out a Hogan rub and Flair knows that."

WWE is hosting an art show on April 1st at the Julia Ideson Building across from City Hall in downtown Houston, TX. There will be a live auction with paintings and drawings supplied by Jerry Lawler, Mickie James, Hornswoggle, Big Show, Jeff Hardy, Beth Phoenix, Santino Marella, and many others. Proceeds from the auction will go to the Houston Public Library Foundation. Mayor Bill White and Linda McMahon will be attending the event. For details you can call (832) 393-1450.

There are Wrestlemania press conferences this Tuesday in New York City and Houston. The bigger deal actually seems to be at Hard Rock Cafe in Times Square in New York with Vince McMahon, Triple H, Chris Jericho, Shawn Michaels, Roddy Piper, Edge, Ric Flair, Big Show, Mark Henry, Kelly Kelly, and more. While Rey Mysterio, CM Punk, and Melina are at City Hall in Houston.

According to a recent press release, Afa of The Wild Samoans will be attending WrestleMania 25 with Mickey Rourke and will a part of Fan Axxess.

Former Headshrinker Samu was recently hospitalized. He had some kidney stones removed and is doing much better.

TNA's DVD "The Best of Jeff Jarrett" will be released in the United Kingdom on April 13th.

TNA has released footage on Youtube from the interview portion of the Jeff Jarrett DVD. Jeff talks about the incident from Fall of 1999 where he held WWE up for money in order to drop the IC title to Chyna. He is honest and doesn't deny it at all and it is very intresting to say the least.

Speaking of the Jarrett DVD, it is now available several weeks early at ROHwrestling.com.

According to ProWrestlingEvents.tk, TNA will be returning to Oklahoma City on May 21st. However, the date is not listed on the TNA website.

Leon White (AKA Vader) has recently dropped over 100 pounds and is down to around 300. He has been working in Japan as of late and is said to be looking well.

At the Hardcore Reunion show last Sunday in Allentown, PA, Shane Douglas announced they would be promoting a November to Remember show at the Alhambra (AKA The ECW Arena) in Philadelphia and said it would be the final reunion show.

A promoter named Ryan Parkinson is promoting a show in Morecambe advertising Bret Hart, Ric Flair, Mick Foley, Kurt Angle, Sandman, Rob Van Dam, and Rene Dupree. XWA which promotes in the same city sent a release saying they believe it is unlikely, if not impossible, that the advertised talent is going to appear.

The tabloid The Examiner has a page and a half on the Verne Gagne story.

Greg Valentine pulled out of Saturday's "Night of Legends" show in Franklin, PA at Rocky Grove High School, even though he had told promoter Norm Connors several times over the past few weeks that he would be "at the show no matter what." Kamala replaced him and faced Sgt. Slaughter. Valentine is getting a bad rep of booking multiple shows in a night and then going to whomever offers the most at the end.

Michael Faith was stripped of the NWA Texas Heavyweight Title due to a broken leg.

With Spoiler 2000's victory to win the vacant NWA Texas Heavyweight Title, he becomes the first ever dual Texas-Oklahoma NWA champion and first masked NWA Texas Heavyweight Champion since The Grappler won the title in December 1985.

After defeating NWA Texas & NWA Oklahoma Tag Team Champions High Society for the Texas Tag Team Titles, the new champions Team Texas were quoted as saying "We're crossing the Red River due north to take them NWA-OK straps as well!"

On the SWCW injury front, Kevin James Sanchez was reportedly at 100%, Shane Sanchez is at 80%, and Kareem Sadat is doing a lot better. All three should return to action on April 11th.

Oklafan extends its congratulations to Sonny C on his recent marriage.
