The Scoop

NEWS
James Ware, otherwise known to wrestling fans as Koko B. Ware, is the latest addition to the WWE Hall of Fame class of 2009. The Birdman made his WWE debut in 1986 and lasted there till 1994. During his time there he never won any titles and apart from his singles career, he also had a run with Owen Hart as the tag team High Energy. In 1999 he made a short return to be involved in the Owen Hart Blue Blazer angle but his return was short lived after the Owen Hart tragic accident during the "Over The Edge" 1999 pay-per-view. Ware appeared during the RAW Homecoming edition and also appeared during the TNA Slammiversary PPV show last year. Koko B. Ware will be inducted by The Honky Tonk Man.

Koko B. Ware will be part of a roundtable discussion about the life and times of Andrew "Test" Martin on March 17th at 8pm eastern (7pm Central). You can listen to it at BlogTalkRadio.com/FalseCountRadio.

WWE Classics in Demand for April is themed "Large and in Charge" featuring Gorilla Monsoon, Ernie Ladd, Andre the Giant, Haystacks Calhoun, John Studd, Earthquake, King Kong Bundy plus one of the Bruno Sammartino vs. Superstar Graham matches and Raw & Nitros from December 1997, right after the famous Survivor Series.

Jim Ross had some health concerns over the weekend. He went to the emergency room on Saturday after suffering some chest pains. He was diagnosed with walking pneumonia. Ross has said he still plans on being in Corpus Christi, TX this coming Tuesday for the Smackdown tapings

WWE is currently working on a Rise and Fall of WCW DVD. No other information including a release date is known at this time.

WWE remains high on Cody Rhodes, Ted DiBiase Jr., and current ECW World Champion Jack Swagger.

In case you haven't figured it out, WWE is punishing the returning Christian. The story goes that when Christian was at the end of his WWE return, Vince McMahon asked if he was leaving for TNA and he said no. Within weeks, Christian had made the jump, and Vince never forgot. This explains Christian returning on the ECW brand, and putting over World Champion Jack Swagger.

Apparently when WWE contacted former diva Jackie Gayda-Haas about returning to work the divas battle royal at Wrestlemania, she thought they were calling to inform her that her husband Charlie Haas was being released.

There are reports that there is about a 75% chance that Wendi Richter will be involved in the WWE Diva Battle Royal at Wrestlemania 25. Molly Holly has been contacted about being in the match but there is some feeling that she may not do it. She has not had a real match since leaving WWE several years ago and some say she has moved on with her life. Other names who were contacted but are not confirmed for the match include Mae Young and Trish Stratus. Four former divas have announced they are not participating, Debra McMichael, Lita, Nora Greenwald (AKA Molly Holly), and Terri Runnels. Greenwald however will be signing autographs at WWE Fan Axcess.

Sgt. Slaughter is not entirely finished with WWE. Even though he was recently released from his contract as an agent, he is still an company ambassador. Ted DiBiase, Jim Duggan, and Tony Atlas also have the company ambassador status.

Great Lakes Championship Wrestling promoter Dave Herro received a cease and desist order from WWE's legal team last week. The order states that GLCW is attempting to pass of its March 21st event in Waukesha, WI entitled "Two Words...Too Sweet" as an official WWE event because former WWE stars Kevin Nash & Scott Hall take on former WWE stars B. G. James & Kip James in the main event while GLCW Heavyweight Champion and former WWE star Al Snow defends the title against former WWE star Armando Alejandro Estrada. Herro stated that the show will go on as planned.

Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly covered the Scott Levy (AKA Raven) lawsuit against WWE. The segment was really poorly researched by Fox. Defense attorney David Whohl said he thinks if the case went to court a jury wouldn't side with WWE. Legal analyst Mercedes Colwin disagreed saying the wrestlers knew what they were getting into and probably had their legal reps look over the contracts. She claimed wrestlers make hundreds of thousands of dollars a year. She said it was the same as actors signing up to do movies but they aren't classified employees. They made no mention of the six-year statute of limitations expiring on the suit. As they debated the case clips played of Dale Torborg as Kiss Demon beating up Sting with a baseball bat in WCW. Kelly thought it was Gene Simmons. They also reported on the Verne Gagne incident from a few weeks back claiming he "body-slammed" Helmut Gutmann leading to his death, which in fact, many news outlets have done this past week due to a new AP story on the incident.

Chris Benoit is not only mentioned in the encyclopedia that the WWE just released last week, but has a fairly large entry with pictures. There is no mention of the incident, however. The book also includes Jeff Jarrett, Kurt Angle, Team 3D and other TNA stars.

The poster for TNA's "Lockdown" pay-per-view has both Sting and Mick Foley pictured on it.

The Honky Tonk Man will be starting up a new website soon. The new address is HonkyTonkMan.MoonFruit.com.

Al Snow will be interviewed by Wrestle-Network.com, which is one of the wrestling websites in the Chinese region. The interview is expected to broadcast on their site on March 31st.

Al Snow and Tiger Chung Lee have landed parts in an upcoming entitled "Mountain Mafia".

New Age Wrestling, owned and operated by Ken Wayne in West Memphis, AR, has released two DVDs of their shows. One DVD, entitled "Thunder On The Water" features Jerry Lawler.

Rikishi will be debuting soon for Revolucion Lucha Libre's Guerra de Titanes TV show in Chile. The company had a fan voting over who they would most like to see brought in, and the choices were Rikishi, Orlando Jordan and Juventud Guerrera. As one would expect, he won by a clear majority.

Sunday's Parade Magazine in a question claims that even though writer Robert Siegel said Mickey Rourke's character in "The Wrestler" was based on a composite of 80s stars, that they claim it's the story of Jake Roberts.

From the "Where are They Now Files": Former WWF 80's jobber Terry Gibbs, who famously lost to the Ultimate Warrior in his debut match, has moved on to Hollywood to try his hand at acting.

Michael Faith has been stripped of the NWA Texas heavyweight Title because he will be unable to defend the title this Saturday, March 21st due to injury. He was scheduled to defend the title against NWA Oklahoma Heavyweight Champion Spoiler 2000 at NWA Southwest's 11th Anniversary event in Livingston, TX.

Oklafan received the following notice from the OECW Front office Sunday afternoon: "As of March 12, 2009, Martin Justice has named Wes Ferguson as co-owner of OECW. In a prepared statement, Mr. Ferguson said that 'In order to be in attendance, the April 4 show has been moved to the 18 of April.'
