NEWS
The Wrestling Observer recently held a poll among its readers, asking for their thoughts on best announcer. Jim Ross won handily, receiving 45.9% of the votes, but Gordon Solie came in second at 26.5%. Finishing a distant third place was Jesse Ventura with 10.5%, followed by Lance Russell who snagged 5.2%.

Searchlight has a five part roundtable interview with professional wrestlers Brutus ?The Barber? Beefcake, Lex Luger, Diamond Dallas Page, Rowdy Roddy Piper and Greg ?The Hammer? Valentine talking about Darren Aronofsky?s The Wrestler. To view the video, click here.

WWE Hall of Famer Afa of The Wild Samoans and wrestling trainer for Mickey Rourke for the movie "The Wrestler" will be a guest on The Bubba the Love Sponge Show" on February 4th on satellite radio and in various markets in Florida. Check local listings.

When Gerweck.net recently asked The Honky Tonk Man about a rumor he will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame this year, he replied "They (WWE) have not contacted me since Cyber Sunday."

Ric Flair won three year-end awards from Pro Wrestling Illustrated for 2008. He won Inspirational Wrestler of the Year, the Stanley Weston PWI Achievement Awaard, and Match of the Year with Shawn Michaels for their match at Wrestlemania 24.

Ric Flair and family has shot a pilot episode for a reality show which would be some what similar to "Hogan Knows Best." Flair and his reps spent a couple of days in Hollywood last week shopping to various networks. The show would focus on Ric training his son Reid to be a pro wrestler, and him basically being Ric Flair -- the man about town. Reid is currently training with George South in Charlotte, NC.

Ric Flair will be managing his sons Reid and David at Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling's "Night of Champions" event as they go for the MACW Tag Team Titles.

A video clip was shown on last week's "RAW" about the movie "The Wrestler". They showed a clip of the movie, and then footage of star Mickey Rourke saying he has been embraced by such guys as Vince McMahon, Ric Flair, Roddy Piper, and has been getting training from Wild Samoan Afa. He says he will be a part of "WrestleMania" and is coming for Chris Jericho. Jericho then responded saying it?s one thing to portray a wrestler in a movie, it?s a completely different thing to actually be one. He then warned Rourke and Flair not to mess with him. A few days after this had occurred and after much hype about the possibility of a match of some sort taking place at WrestleMania between Rourke and Jericho, it appears to be dead. Rourke?s publicist distributed an announcement Wednesday night noting he would not be participating in the event.

Electronic Arts recently announced the cast of the live action game "Command & Conquer Red Alert 3: Uprising" WWE Hall of Famer and 16 time World Heavyweight Champion "Nature Boy" Ric Flair has made the list, playing the character Commander Hill, a commander players will have to take on in the new Commander's Challenge mode. "I had a great time on set and while I may have retired from the ring, I think my fans are going to love seeing the 'Nature Boy' style and profile his way to victory. I know my kids are going to have a great time trying to take it to me on the battlefield, " Flair said. Other cast members hired include Malcolm McDowell from "Heroes", Jodi Lyn O'Keefe from "Prison Break" and Holly Valance from "Neighbors". The game will be available for download in March. You can see two promotional photos of Flair from the game at
Wrestling-Online.com/news/general/Flair_C_C_3.shtml.

In a one line comment to the Houston Chronicle, WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair said that the bottom line is that he will be at WrestleMania 25. "Let's just say, I will be at WrestleMania, and that's all I'm saying," said the Nature Boy when asked about if he will be part of the show. Flair, who will also be present at the Hall of Fame ceremony the night before, was expected to be somewhat involved in the Mickey Rourke vs. Chris Jericho match as rumors were that Flair, along with Afa the Wild Samoan, was helping Rourke getting in shape and doing some training before stepping in the ring for real in front of 70,000 people. But now, that match appears to be off.

WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair noted in a radio interview this past week that he has been approached by a Hollywood producer about making a movie based on his life. Flair joked that nobody could play him unless Brad Pitt put on 50 lbs.

Roddy Piper and Mickey Rourke are guests on ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live" on February 9th. Check local listings.

WWE and Columbia Records released the 9th volume of WWE theme songs on Tuesday. The new release is entitled "Voices: The Music Volume 9". Best Buy has a limited two disc set that includes themes of former WWE Superstars such as the Ultimate Warrior, Mr Perfect, Steve Austin and others. There are thirteen tracks on the new album including the popular Randy Orton theme by Rev Theory, Umaga, Kozlov, Khali, Eve, Kelly Kelly and more. In a review of this CD at Gerweck.net, the reviewer mentioned that Jack Swagger's theme sounded like it was done by Rage Against the Machine. That's because the band that did Swagger's theme is called Age Against the Machine, a Rage Against the Machine tribute band.

Trish Stratus hinted at a return in an interview with the Slam Wrestling website in Calgary. She said if she was to come back she would love a match with Beth Phoenix or Natalya: "Nattie I think is going to be a major player soon, given the right chance to do what she does best," Stratus said. "Everyone knows how much I respect the Hart lineage, using Bret's sharpshooter in my retirement match, wearing the pink and black boots in Toronto ... it's not a coincidence. So I would be honoured to face someone who is a part of that legacy and I have no doubt in my mind that we could blow away an audience."

ESPN radio in Chicago on Thursday afternoon show talked about the Mickey Rourke-Chris Jericho stuff and how it reminded them of Jerry Lawler vs. Andy Kaufman. The hosts said that pro wrestling wasn't a sport, but wrestlers themselves are athletes and can do some spectacular things. They talked about how hard it was to get tickets for Wrestlemania 22 and then started joking about Steve McMichael. They joked McMichael still doesn't know the difference between what is real and what is fake, especially when it comes to his wife.

You can't make this stuff up. TNA Wrestling is offering the new Chairman job to its Main Event Mafia faction - and the opportunity to openly sell chairs, steel chairs - to ousted Illinois governor Rod Blagojevich. TNA officials confirmed today that Blagojevich, who was impeached by the Illinois House of Representatives on January 29, is being offered the "Chairman" job within its Main Event Mafia faction, an elite unit which includes U.S. Olympic Gold Medal winner Kurt Angle, former World Heavyweight Champions Kevin Nash, Booker T., and Scott Steiner, and reigning TNA Wrestling World Heavyweight Champion Sting. Blagojevich was arrested on criminal charges on December 9, 2008, for conspiring to sell the senate seat vacated by then-President Elect Barack Obama to the highest bidder, but Angle truly believes in the U.S. Justice System. "He's innocent until proven guilty," Angle said. "As the leader of the Main Event Mafia, I am a huge fan of the Illinois style of politics. As such, Governor Blagojevich is welcome to join me and the entire Main Event Mafia at any and all TNA events in the future, and certainly is welcome to sell his seat with us should he choose not to accept our generous offer." Blagojevich is a former amateur boxer, so Angle is convinced Blagojevich, "easily will be able to handle the transition to pro wrestling," Angle said. The Illinois House of Representatives voted in favor of impeachment by an astounding margin of 114-1. Only 60 votes were needed to push the impeachment forward. The single dissenting vote came from Democratic State Representative Milton Patterson, who represents the Southwest side of Chicago.

Charlie Haas and his wife Jackie Gayda-Haas have opened a Custom Muscle store in Frisco, TX.
