?Oklahoma Shooter: the Dan Hodge Story? by Mike Chapman is now available, and can be purchased by calling (641) 791-3072. The book?s foreword was written by Jim Ross, and is priced at $27.95.

Mickey Rourke, star of "The Wrestler", was on Jimmy Kimmel Thursday night, and Jay Leno the night before. On Kimmel, he talked about doing the movie without being paid, blading, and being trained by Afa of the Wild Samoans, and mentioned him being the uncle of The Rock. Kimmel asked Rourke if he used steroids to help get in shape, and Rourke said, "Excuse me?". Kimmel got off the subject and asked about blading, and Rourke said, "I'm glad you got off the steroids." After the commercial break, Kimmel brought out a surprise guest, a mutual friend, Roddy Piper. Piper somewhat incoherently talked about the movie. He said he got choked up watching it. He did say it was a little Hollywood when Rourke's character walked to the back to applause from the wrestlers, stating that it never happened to him, since they were all in competition. Kimmel mentioned that Piper was at his place watching football a month ago, and he played a cell phone video of Piper choking out one of his friends with a sleeper hold. You can watch the interview in 2 parts. Click here for part on and click here for part two.

You can see a video montage of legendary wrestling manager Sir Oliver Humperdink and many other cameo appearances, with musical score by Johnny G. Lyon by clicking here.

The 2008 inductees into the Memphis Hall of Fame include Billy Wicks, Sputnik Monroe, Jackie Fargo, Jimmy Valiant, Tommy Rich, and Eddie Gilbert as singles wrestlers. As tag teams, the inductees are The Von Brauners (Karl Von Brauner & Kurt Von Brauner), Al Greene & Don Greene, Jerry Jarrett & Tojo Yamamoto, Eddie Marlin & Tommy Gilbert, Phil Hickerson & Dennis Condrey, and The Fabulous Ones (Steve Keirn & Stan Lane).

The South Florida Sun Sentinel recently did a photo gallery of the ten greatest wrestlers of all-time. Ric Flair was No. 1 and Hulk Hogan was No. 2. No great surprises, although certainly several you could argue, most notably George Steele at No. 10. Not sure how he makes it on any criteria.

There was a mention of Nikolai Volkoff on Howard Stern's show on Wednesday. Volkoff was having lunch with Sal and Richard and brought in for a few minutes. Among the things he said was that Manny Fernandez was not one of his favorite human beings and that Slick was the son of Rufus R. Jones

In a recent interview with ClubWWI.com, Ronnie Garvin revealed who he felt screwed up his NWA World Title reign, Dusty Rhodes. Garvin said "It's a business deal and, you know, Dusty Rhodes screwed it all up. Because he didn't want it to happen. It's jealousy and that's one of the reasons I quit Crocket Promotion - NWA. After that, I wasn't there long. I was gone. I'm the only guy who lost the belt and never had a return match." Garvin also said Rhodes was behind his brief heel turn in Crockett Promotions. He also said Rhodes was jealous of him.

Sting's knees are bothering him which is why they did all the angles they did to try and cover for not being able to do much in the ring. Sting did work TV last Monday.

Yes, for those who have noted this, Sting has wrestled numerous times in Charlotte in the last 15 years. On the show he said it was his first time in the city in 15 years. Closer to eight years, as he last worked in 2000.

Jeff Jarrett, Samoa Joe and Brother Ray are working injury angles although Ray returned last week. Joe will probably be brought back sooner than later. Joe at first was brought back at the last taping but the decision was changed and it didn't air. As best we can tell, Angle and Jarrett are both fine, which is a miracle because there were a lot of scary spots in their match.

Last week we reported that Mick Foley's bio had been put back up on the WWE Alumni Page. Well, it has been removed again.

Robert Remus - better known to all wrestling fans as Sgt. Slaughter - was given the pink slip after a total of 24 years of service to the company. Slaughter was employed first in 1980 and stayed there till 1994 and then again in 1998 until his release. The WWE Hall of Famer won the WWE title once during his career, beating the Ultimate Warrior at the 1990 Royal Rumble. After his wrestling career ended, Slaughter was given the role of a road agent and made occasional appearances both in the ring and during backstage segments. Also was released were Val Venis, Ron Simmons, Hardcore Holly, and several referees among others. It is said that Vince McMahon believes the U.S. economy will tank under the incoming Barack Obama administration.

Steve Austin is expected to ask Ric Flair to induct him into the WWE Hall of Fame. Bill Watts has already asked Jim Ross to induct him. Dory Funk Jr. & Terry Funk are expected to have been contacted already about the hall of fame. The Von Erichs, as a group, have also been talked about as possible inductees.

In a follow-up to the announcement that Bill Watts was being selected for induction in the 2009 WWE Hall of Fame, Watts sent an e-mail to his friends saying he got the call from WWE and called it "an honor" to be chosen. Watts also wrote about who he would like to present him at the show. "But without a doubt...if it is agreed to by them (WWE)...there can be no other...than Jim Ross," the former WCW Executive Vice President said. Watts mentioned that Ross was always a supporter of his and he has been with him for a long time. "Also hoping I can still gently influence him into writing a favorable speech about me...and not revealing the 'few flaws' that someone so close for so many years may think they have perceived," Watts added. With Austin on the card as well that might pose a problem as Austin could ask his good friend JR to do the honors for him. WWE ultimately has the final say on who inducts who at the Hall of Fame.

Mid Atlantic Championship Wrestling, promoted by Rikki Nelson, drew 3,123 fans (2,623 paid) on January 10th in Easley, SC. The card featured Ric Flair, Bobby Eaton, and Ricky Morton, among others. Flair did a meet-and-greet and received several standing ovations.
