NEWS
On July 27th, The Honky Tonk Man almost had his index finger of his right hand severed during a public appearance before an Ultimate Championship Wrestling show in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, Canada. As Honky told the story, he was doing an appearance at Boston Pizza in Charlottetown several hours before the show when someone wanted to take a photo with him with both men clashing guitars. When the guitars collided, the neck of Honky's guitar turned and sliced into Honky's finger, almost severing it. Honky was immediately taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital where doctors stitched the finger and bandaged it. Honky made his appearance at the Ultimate Championship Wrestling show several hours later. He was unable to wrestle his scheduled match due to the injury and was replaced by Trash Canyon, whom he managed from ringside. Honky, although injured and in obvious pain, sang his theme song twice in the ring and was a consummate professional. Honky is scheduled to see a hand surgeon on Monday. His injured finger is not healing properly. For video concerning this, you can visit YouTube.com/watch?v=iXGUkhJYt0g.

CMT has released the first look at Hulk Hogan's "Celebrity Championship Wrestling" reality TV show that will start airing next month. The ten celebrities participating will be split in two teams, Teem Beefcake - led by Brutus 'The Barber' Beefcake - and Team Nasty - headed by Nasty Boys' Brian Knobbs. Judges will be Eric Bischoff, Jimmy Hart, and Hulk Hogan himself as every week they will start eliminating celebrities until only one remains and gets declared the CCW champion. A real wrestling title belt has been created for the show which looks impressive in the three and a half minute trailer. There are cameos by Rob Van Dam and Bill Goldberg, the latter of whom takes a bump after a garbage can shot to the head. Goldberg did say he was training for a one-time return to pro-wrestling, so one would speculate it could be with this group if Bischoff and Hogan have their way and launch a promotion off this series. The trailer contains a lot of drama and a lot of wrestling training including celebs going through tables and working normal matches in front of a crowd. You can check the full trailer at Wrestling-Online.com/news/general/Hogan_CCW_trailer.shtml.

Despite rumours to the contrary, Brent Albright was not seriously injured at the ROH show last weekend

Ric Flair was working on a deal with Coca-Cola on the possibility of working with them in the southeast part of the country. Apparently the deal is now off the table.

According to a note on WrestlingObserver.com, Ric Flair is scheduled to appear at the NWA-OK event in Tulsa. To our knowledge, that is not true. He is only scheduled for the NWA Pro event in Robstown, TX, where he will accept his NWA Hall of Fame induction award.

Jim Ross has written the foreword for an upcoming book about Danny Hodge, written by Mike Chapman. The book should be released in about two months.

There is a possibility that Jim Ross might be doing a piece for ESPN during the week of the Oklahoma-Texas game on October 11th. It is not a done deal but is promising. If it can be finalized, it would air on "College Gameday".

Freddy Prinze, Jr. is adapting into the WWE creative mix well, working the same schedule as most creative team members, and getting along with everyone thus far. There are those in the company already surprised he has adjusted to the new working environment. Prinze, Jr., along creative team members Christopher DeJosephs and John Carle, suggest segments for the television shows, and Michael Hayes decides on which should be pitched to Vince McMahon for his approval.

Speaking of Michael Hayes, the Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that the former Freebird is still on good behavior and said to be dealing well with the stress.

Jack Swagger has been added to the ECW roster page.

The line-up for WWE's forthcoming Eddie Guerrero DVD has been released. Among the matches are Guerrero vs. Ric Flair for the WCW United States Title (Hog Wild PPV, 8-10-96) and Team Angle (Shelton Benjamin & Charlie Haas) vs. Los Guerreros (Eddie & Chavo, Jr.) for the WWE Smackdown World Tag Team Title (Backlash PPV, 4-27-03). On the European version of the DVD, the entire broadcast of RAW from November 14, 2005, the night after Eddie died, which featured a match between Ric Flair and William Regal, will be included. Also on the discs are interviews with Jim Ross (about Eddie's arrival in WCW), Jerry Lawler (about the Frogsplash finisher) and Chavo Guerrero, Sr. (about the family rivalry between Eddie & Chavo, Jr.)

Booker T vs. A. J. Styles vs. Christian Cage is currently in the plans for TNA's "Bound for Glory" pay-per-view event.

TNA announced that Jeff Jarrett was upset over comments that Kurt Angle had made in the UK Sun last week and would be addressing it on "TNA iMPACT!". Yes, on Impact. Angle said things like there were too many multi-person and stipulation matches, that King of the Mountain was absurdly complicated, and that it was stupid to have convoluted finishes to "protect the losers". That should be a fun interview.

Jody Hamilton (AKA The Assassin) was a guest on "The Wrestling Hotseat" last Monday night. To hear the interview, click here.

Congratulations goes out to Carnage who just surpassed 6 months as GPCW Heavyweight Champion. He defeated Slash in a Hardcore Match to win the title on March 29th in Cache.
