Oklahoma Scoop

Oklahoma Scoop

Posted: Aug 25th 2008 By: mikeiles

NEWS
Jakks Pacific recently released pictures of their WWE Unmatched Fury 11 series and it includes The Honky Tonk Man, C. M. Punk, Ted DiBiase, and Chris Jericho.

TNA has been in talks with Sting regarding a contract for 2009. It will be interesting to see if they come to an agreement, as Sting will turn 50 years old next year. TNA president Dixie Carter was in favor of TNA giving him a new deal last year, and seems to be a strong supporter of the former WCW champion. His current deal pays him in the neighborhood of $600,000.

For the video game enthusiasts, the final opponent you must defeat in the new TNA Impact game is none other than Jeff Jarrett himself.

Brian Lawler (AKA Grand Master Sexay), son of WWE Hall of Famer Jerry Lawler, checked into a rehab center a while back at an undisclosed location. It is believed the rehab was being paid by WWE. Reports have surfaced that Brian was recently kicked out of the rehab center due to his behavior at the facility.

For those wondering if Ric Flair will wrestle again now that he is no longer with WWE, he is now at least adamant about not returning to the squared circle.

MissouriWrestlingRevival.com recently released their MWR Top 100 which ranks the top 100 wrestlers in the midwest. Current Ring of Honor Tag Team Champion Tyler Cook was ranked #1. Wrestlers with Oklahoma ties on the list include:
#8 Mark Sterling
#28 Damon Windsor
#42 Kenny Campbell
#50 Tracy Smothers
#63 Kraig Keesaman

MWA announced last week that the Old School Express vs. Gentlemen Thugs match on September 5th in Spavinaw will be a Southern Tag Team Title Match.

Zane Morris has made a comeback to wrestling. At the Asylum Championship Wrestling event in Colorado Springs, CO on August 16th, Morris was introduced to the ACW crowd as Father Zane Morris by Brother Luc Stecher.

J. T. LaMotta will be a guest on Indywarz Radio tonight. The show runs from 8pm to 10pm Central and can be heard by clicking here.

Former WCW and WWE World Heavyweight Champion Bill Goldberg stated on Fight Network Radio earlier today that he was been training to make a comeback in professional wrestling. In the interview, Goldberg said he stopped training a few years ago when his son was born, but he has since returned to the gym. Goldberg wants a one-shot deal for another match, but apparently not with either WWE or TNA. In recent interviews, Goldberg has been very outspoken about his dissatisfaction with both TNA and WWE.

ComPro Tag Team Champion Rocco Valentino was featured in an article on NewsOn6.com. The article focused on the Angel Food ministry, a faith based service that helps deliver name brand food at wholesale prices through various churches in the area. Rocco (featured in the article under his real name of Rob Biggins) is a coordinator of this service at Will Rogers Methodist Church and was quoted as saying, "Everyone can use a break in their groceries, or any way to save money is always a good thing." The entire article can be located by clicking here.

Brett Taylor suffered an injury at the ComPro event this past Saturday in a match against Tyson Armstrong. He required assistance back to the dressing room and was unable to put any weight on his right leg. Taylor saw a doctor on Sunday and first indication is he has ligament damage in his ankle. He will further evaluated at a later date.

And now from the We Goofed!!! department:
In last week's Oklahoma Scoop, we reported that The Naturals defeated Joey Silvia & Malichi on August 16th and lost to George South Jr. & Rex Sterling on August 17th, both matches taking place at the NWA Fanfest in Charlotte, NC. We originally reported that The Naturals consisted of Chase Stevens & Adam Armor, as they had been using the team name in Tennessee. It turns out that it was actually the original Naturals tandem of Stevens and Andy Douglas. We made the change on the report late Monday night last week. It was announced however, that Stevens & Douglas would not be tagging together after the weekend of August 16 & 17. Stevens & Armor are no longer using the Naturals team name, and are now known as The Natural Born Killers or The Devil's Rejects.

Oklafan would like to extend its sympathies to the friends and family of Mike Norton, also known as the pro wrestler Thunderbolt, who passed away last Monday. Thunderbolt was an independent wrestler in the northeast part of the country and was friends with Balls Mahoney, and Johnny & Chris Candido. He wrestled Chris Candido at the NWA-OK event in Broken Arrow on September 25, 2004.
