NEWS
When Brent Albright defeated Adam Pearce for the NWA World Title his past Saturday in New York City, he became the 4th native Oklahoman to hold a World Heavyweight Title following Dick Hutton (NWA World Champion from November 14, 2957 to January 9, 1959), Jack Brisco (NWA World Champion from July 20, 1973 to December 2, 1974 and December 9, 1974 to December 10, 1975), and Bill Goldberg (WCW World Champion from July 6, 1998 to December 27, 1998 and WWE RAW World Champion from September 21, 2003 to December 14, 2003). Albright revealed in an exclusive interview immediately after his title win with the Ring of Honor podcast team (available at ROHmedia.com) that he will defend the belt on August 16th at the Ring of Honor event in Chicago Ridge, IL.

There are reports that several independent promoters have been told that WWE Hall of Famer "Nature Boy" Ric Flair and WWE have parted ways, and that Flair is now available for bookings. The break up is considered an amicable parting. Flair was wanting to accept bookings that WWE rejected.

"Natureboy Ric Flair: The Definitive Collection" sits at #2 in Billboards top 10 sports/recreational DVDs behind "NBA Champions 2007-2008: Boston Celtics".

Jerry Lawler is featured on the cover of the July/August 2008 issue of Memphis Sport magazine, which also has a story about him inside. To read the article, go to MemphisSport.net.

Jim Ross was scheduled to appear on "The Mouthpiece Wrestling Show" this past Friday, but had to postpone. He will be rescheduled for a later date.

Mae Young was brought in for last week's RAW but ended up doing the Kiss Cam segment during the commerical breaks and was not seen on camera. The original plan was for Mae to do a segment with WWE RAW World Tag Team Champions Cody Rhodes & Ted DiBiase Jr., but that idea was scrapped and rewritten a couple of hours before the show. It's hard to believe it but Mae has been involved in wrestling for 68 years now!

Magnum T. A. was backstage at the "WWE Smackdown" taping in Charlotte, NC a couple of weeks ago. He recently underwent back surgery and was getting around on crutches.

A report in last Friday's Ovaciones Newspaper claims that WWE has signed Mexican stars Dos Caras Jr. and Sicodelico Jr. to contracts. The two are cousins, and the nephews of wrestling legend Mil Mascaras.

The TNA show on August 17th at the Muskogee Civic Center has been changed to a 4pm bell time.

A. J. Styles will be appearing on "Peachtree Pandemonium" this Wednesday night (August 6th). To listen to the show click here.

Don West's latest deal is an A. J. Styles limited edition package. For just $75, you get the A. J. Styles "Unim Phenomenous" T-shirt, a random A. J. Styles T-shirt, "The Best of A. J. Styles Volume 2" DVD, "The Best of X-Division" DVD, "Unbreakable 2005" DVD, "History of TNA Year 1" DVD, a book copy of the 1st ever TNA program, an autographed picture of Styles delivering his Pele Kick move on an opponent, and a limited edition A. J. Styles Pele Kick T-shirt, which is a limited edition T-shirt as only 100 were made. To purchase this or any other TNA merchandise, check out ShopTNA.com.

The TNA Impact video posters for the new game has Kurt Angle in the middle with Sting and Samoa Joe off to the sides, and A. J. Styles hitting Booker T with a forearm in the background. the game will be available on XBOX 360, Playstation 3 and Wii.

Jerry Jarrett, father of Jeff Jarrett and co-founder of TNA, was a guest on a recent edition of "Monday Night Mayhem". Jerry was asked whether he believes that the criticisms of his son, Jeff, over the years have been harsh & whether or not he sees Jeff returning inside the six-sided TNA ring anytime soon. "Any time you join a family business, any time you follow your father's success, you open yourself to enormous criticism. Jeff knew that going in." He feels that the majority of Jeff's critics have been harsh, but having those "armchair quarterbacks" is a part of the business. Quite openly, Jerry said that "he has no idea nor no knowledge" of whether or not Jeff will appear on television for TNA in the weeks/months to come. Click here to listen to the entire interview.

Billy Graham and Tony Atlas have both cancelled their NWA Legends Fanfest appearances. Apparently Graham had a huge falling out with organizer Greg Price over having his flight tickets upgraded to first class. Magnum T. A. has just been added to the event to replace Atlas. All the details on the upcoming convention at NWALegends.com.

The Honky Tonk Man badly injured his right index finger on July 26th at an event in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, Canada. The injury prevented the former WWF Intercontinental Champion from wrestling.

United Wrestling Association has suspended Chase Stevens for two weeks for his actions at previous shows. Stevens is 1/2 of the UWA Tag Team Champions with Adam Armor. In UWA they are collectively known as The Devil's Rejects, while in NAWA Ring Champions they are collectively known as The Naturals.

Bill Goldberg and former boxer Sugar Ray Leonard were the celebrity contestants for this Wednesday's taping of Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader. It will air on July 30.

GPCW co-owner and commissioner J. D. Richards will once again don the wrestling boots and the black stetson along with the "Texas Playboy" persona. Richards says he is in training and should be back in the squared circle no later than Feburary. "It will be good to get back into the ring after an 11 year furlow," said Richards. "There are a few scores I need to settle with a few people."
