Oklahoma Scoop

NEWS
WWE recently did a story that listed "The Top 25 Most Annoying Gimmicks Of All Time". The list contained The Dungeon of Doom (Kevin Sullivan, Kamala, The Shark, Zodiac, The Giant, Barbarian, Meng, & Jimmy Hart) at #5,Repo Man at #8, The Genius at #13, and Mantaur (managed by Jim Cornette) at #22. To view the whole story, click here.

There are reports that there is some internal unhappiness with the Michael Cole-Jerry Lawler announce team on Raw.

Michael Hayes will induct his Freebird "brother" Buddy Roberts into the NWA Hall of Heroes at the banquet in Charlotte, NC on August 15th.

Ric Flair will be doing a series exclusively for WWE.com called (what else) "Stylin & Profilin". It debuts tomorrow and WWE has a preview up now on their website.

Ric Flair's appearance at the "WWE Smackdown" TV taping in Charlotte, NC on July 15th came after the cameras stopped rolling and before the dark match main event. He came out and spoke to the Charlotte fans, and it turned out to be a very good speech. He said he would never leave the city. Flair's kids were around ringside, Reid, Ashley, Megan, but not David. Many people feel Reid acts just like his dad. Flair also said that his granddaughter's name was Piper, which results in a lot of ribbing from his colleagues, for obvious reasons.

Ric Flair, John Cena, Chris Jericho, and Kelly Kelly all attended the 1st Florida Championship Wrestling TV taping which was held last week at their brand new center in Tampa, FL. Flair opened the show with an interview while the other three were involved in angles with FCW wrestlers. FCW is now the only developmental fed and is owned by Steve Keirn, formerly of The Fabulous Ones (w/ Stan Lane), and also wrestled as Skinner in WWF. Dusty Rhodes and Todd Grisham handled the TV play-by-play while Justin Roberts handled ring announcing duties. WWE invested thousands of dollars in the new facility which basically houses everything. No TV deal has been announced yet, but since the TV taping were held, an announcement may be on the horizon.

Damien 666 recently had a tryout in front of Batista, Edge, Undertaker, and Mick Foley backstage. Some initial take would have Damien joining ECW, but nothing materialized. Damien said he would have turned down the offer anyway.

Samoa Joe will face Booker T in a steel cage match at TNA's "Hard Justice" pay-per-view event on August 10th. The very confusing end to "Victory Road" apparently leaves Samoa Joe still as a babyface, and Booker T as a heel. TNA doesn't have any plans to turn Sting heel, which was implied. This all should be made clear at this week's Impact tapings.

Al Snow will be a guest on Trash Talking Radio on Tuesday night. You can listen to the show at TrashTalkingRadio.com.

A tribute to the life of Bruiser Brody was on the Great Canadian Talk Show hosted by Marty Goldstein last Thursday at KickFM.com.

The MSWA wrestlers gave Les Mayne quite a send off in the ring after the show this past Sunday. Les is moving to Arizona and wrestled his final matches for the time being this past weekend, although he did promise to come back when he could. New MSWA Mid-South Tag Team Champion Halo said he was glad that Les was his opponent in his MSWA return to the ring, but also wished it wasn't the last match for Les, as he thought The Forsaken and Limited Edition could have quite a feud. 3DW Texoma Champion Dane Griffin, who was Mayne's handpicked opponent for his final 3DW match on Friday, had many great things to say about his tag team partner and best friend as well. The entire locker room came out after the tag team title match to say their goodbyes in the ring. Les told the crowd that, despite his attitude, he loved all of them and their boos and negative chants meant everything to him. Les and 3DW Femme Fatale Champion Frankie Dee will be getting married in May of 2009.

The management of TAP announced last week that the August 16th event has been changed to August 23rd.
