NEWS
Tracy Smothers failed a drug test given at an independent wrestling show in Williamsburg, KY this past Saturday night. Smothers, who was to be in the main event, tested positive for marijuana and was not allowed to work. Smothers is now suspended in Kentucky and cannot work until he is brought before the Kentucky regulatory board

The transition from the WWE creative staff to developmental by Dusty Rhodes had been in the works for some time. Rhodes wanted to switch to developmental when Michael Hayes replaced Dave Lagana as the head Smackdown writer. Rhodes, who had been helping with ECW, was also looking for a reduced travel schedule. In his new role, Rhodes will be liason to Stephanie McMahon.

Michael Hayes and Ed Koskey have been mentioned as names that could end up the head writer for ECW. Koskey is currently a Raw writer, and could work on both shows. There is a concern that Hayes might burn out if he heads both shows.

There are reports that Michael Hayes has been pitching the idea of Triple H moving to Smackdown.

"The Triumph and Tragedy of WCCW" debuts on pay-per-view on May 1st.

Pro Football Talk reports a blog entry from WWE announcer Jim Ross suggesting the New Orleans Saints will trade for Jeremy Shockey. Ross, who saw Reggie Bush with Snoop Dogg at Wrestlemania 24, writes "sources tell me that the New York Giants are going to trade outstanding TE Jeremy Shockey to Bush's Saints, prior to the NFL draft." Much of the WWE is more fantasy than reality, so no one should consider this a concrete report. Still, a Shockey trade to the Saints would have immense fantasy implications.

In his latest blog, Jim Ross wondered if it was too early to start thinging about the 2009 WWE Hall of Fame inductees. He mentioned names like Steve Austin, The Fabulous Freebirds, The Von Erich Family, The Funks, Paul Boesch, Ted DiBiase, and Ricky Steamboat for starters.

At the "WWE Smackdown" TV taping in Boston, MA on April 8th, Nattie Neidhart, now going by Natalia, came out with Victoria and a video was shown of her father Jim Neidhart. Nattie's official name on Smackdown will be Natalia Neidhart.

Jesse Ventura was on "The Colbert Report" with Stephen Colbert Monday night. When Sgt. Slaughter's name was brought up, Ventura noted he was a real war veteran while Slaughter was a fraud. When Colbert brought up Mexican wrestling (presumably since Ventura lives in Mexico), he called them Luke-a-doors

During an interview with MondayNightMayhem.com, Jesse Ventura was asked for his thoughts on whether or not he feels Ric Flair will stay retired from in-ring competition at this point in his career. He said, "I hope Ric's finally retiring. Here's a guy that has given his heart & soul to wrestling. He's closing in on his late 50's/early 60's. Ric does not belong in that ring anymore." Jesse recalls a conversation between the two when he was inducted into the WWE Hall Of Fame in 2004, and how they discussed the number of backdrops he has taken in his career (an astounding number to say the least). "It's time for Ric to retire."

According to the AP Newswire, CBS has cancelled "Secret Talents of the Stars," one day after its prime time network debut. The show bombed in the Nielsen's ratings, with only 4.6 million viewers. WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair was slated to do a salsa dance routine on the program.

Former Horsemen Ole Anderson said he turned down an offer to be apart of the Ric Flair tribute on Raw. In an interview, Anderson said that Flair had a lot of potential, but ended up doing the same match every night. Anderson is still quite bitter.

The Raw table at Wrestlemania was not gimmicked for the Ric Flair vs. Shawn Michaels match. HBK did the Asai moonsault, and expected the table to break. Of course, it did not, as there was a miscommunication!

Silvervision in the U.K. announced today at the WrestleMania 24 DVD will include the Battle Royal and the Hall of Fame ceremony, but not the Flair farewell segment on Raw (likely saved for the Flair DVD). The Hall of Fame ceremony ends up clocking in at 4 1/2 hours on DVD, so it's the whole deal.

The new WWE T-shirt with Ric Flair's title reigns lists his 1999 win over Hulk Hogan in Tupelo, MS, when it was actually in Louisville, KY.

The web site AllHipHop.com has a major feature on Ric Flair, with lots of old clips, saying Flair was the original hip hopper.

Mick Foley has a role in the movie "Anamorph" that comes out on April 18th, and stars William Dafoe. The film is listed as a "psychological thriller." Foley has a small speaking role as an antique store owner.

On Thursday night's Countdown with Keith Olberman, they brought up the Obama vs. Clinton commercial for Raw a week from Monday and did seven minutes of wrestling talk. Olberman mentioned the Hart Foundation vs. Nikolai Volkoff & Boris Zhukov match at WrestleMania (if you blinked you missed it) and that Jesse Ventura was a former AWA Tag Team champion. In the background, instead of playing old American pro wrestling tapes, they showed Mistico highlights
from CMLL. A comedian on the show suggested Hillary Clinton and Janet Reno form a tag team called Hilareno against Obamica of Barack Obama & Monica Lewinsky

Former WWE and TNA diva Jackie Gayda attended the WWE Hall of Fame with her husband, Charlie Haas.

The rumored main event for TNA's "Bound for Glory" pay-per-view event is TNA World Champion Samoa Joe vs. Sting.

TNA Booker Dutch Mantel is a big proponent of Raisha Saeed since he thinks she does such a great job with the accent. Saeed is rumored to be Cheerleader Melissa.

Reports indiciated that fans wearing TNA merchandise were told to leave the WWE Fan Axxess, including a group dressed up like Sting. TNA responded by setting up a site next to Fan Axxess across from the Citrus Bowl. TNA brought the X Division Title belt to the event and allowed fans to pose with the belt. Later reports came in that the "fans" that were asked to leave WWE Fan Axxess were people in charge of the TNA-U program.

SunSports is airing the fishing program "One Moore Catch" with former NFL player Dave Moore. His fishing partners this week are "Nasty Boys" Brian Knobbs and Jim "The Anvil" Neidhart as they fish for amberjack and grouper off the coast of St. Petersburg, FL. Pretty funny banter with Knobbs talking about the time The Nasty Boys beat The Hart Foundation at WrestleMania... It replays on SunSports 9:30am Wednesday morning.

April Hunter is featured at www.askmen.com/women/models_100/130_april_hunter.html. When noting how she got into wrestling it said that Terry Taylor saw a spread in Playboy and approached her with a job offer.

Brian Blair has been targeted by Gays in South Florida for his opposition to the National Day of Silence on April 25th. Blair, who is in a race for the City Commissioner job in Hillsborough County (Tampa) with Kevin Beckner, a gay candidate, wrote a letter to constituents saying that no group of citizens should be given government sanction to promote their social and sexual agendas upon the rest of us, and especially, our children. He complained that the school system wouldn't allow a moment of silence in the schools for God.

The Bruiser Brody book by Barbara Goodish and Larry Matysik has now gone into a second English printing. The book was just released in Japan.

A biography on the life of Andre the Giant is avilable for pre-order on Amazon.com with an October 28th release date.

With Tim Rockwell's win this past Saturday over Cold Blooded Chris for the ComPro Oklahoma X Division Title, he is now a title holder in two different feds. He also holds the TAP Oklahoma Hertitage Champion. He joins Al Farat as the only dual federations/dual champions in Oklahoma currently.
