NEWS
Michael Hayes has taken on a lot more responsibility as of late and has become one of the most powerful agents in the WWE. He can always be found at the local hotel's bar or at HQ. Hayes is now on-call 24/7 and has a lot of influence over plans & pushes. In addition, with Lagana out, Ed Koskey is doing the writing on the ECW side, with Dusty Rhodes continuing to offer ideas. However, with ECW and Smackdown working together, Hayes will be deciding the main direction of both shows. Hayes has also pitched the idea of doing a Triple H vs. John Cena rematch at Wrestlemania billed as "HHH-Cena II."

Don't believe the CM Punk doghouse rumors. The person that disliked Punk the most has recently been fired -- that person being writer Dave Lagana, who was responsible for Chavo Guerrero's push to the ECW title. Lagana was also the one person pushing for John Morrison to go over on Punk. Dusty Rhodes is a big fan of Punk and Michael Hayes has been trying to get him on Smackdown.

WWE will release a Wal-Mart exclusive DVD on March 25th entitled "WWE's Greatest Superstars of WrestleMania" and will include Sgt. Slaughter vs. Hulk Hogan (WM VII) and Mick Foley vs. Edge (WM 22) among others.

WWE.com is currently running a poll asking which wrestler has or had the best face paint. The Ultimate Warrior is currently in first place.

The end of Ric Flair's illustrious in-ring career is less than two months away. Have a personal experience with the Nature Boy that you'd like to share? Mike Mooneyham of "The Wrestling Gospel" is wanting to hear about it. He will be publishing some of the best in a future column. E-mail your favorite Flair memories to mooneyham@postandcourier.com. Don't forget to list your city.

During last week's Bill Simmons podcast, Baseball Tonight producer Gus Ramsey brought up the Roddy Piper/Jimmy Snuka appearance at the Royal Rumble. Simmons, who was once a huge wrestling fan, but no longer follows it, said he hadn't heard and said they must have been the only two from that era who are still alive.

Former contestant on "Survivor" and former TNA manager Johnny Fairplay, who?s real name is Johnny Dalton, had a child with "America's Next Top Model" contestant Michelle Deighton on January 16th. The child was named Piper Addison after Rowdy Roddy Piper, whom Fairplay worked as an assistant to before becoming famous on "Survivor". Fairplay returned to "Survivor" this season for the "Fans vs. Favorites" edition of the show. On the episode that aired on February 7th, Fairplay became the first contestant voted off the island this season.

TNA recently announced their DVD release schedule and "The Best of 2007" will be released on April 8th and will include Sting vs. Kurt Angle ("Bound for Glory"), A. J. Styles vs. Rhino in an Elevation X Match ("Destination X"), and The Steiner Brothers (Rick Steiner & Scott Steiner) vs. Team 3D (Brother Ray & Brother Devon) in a Tables Match ("Bound for Glory") among others.

A. J. Styles received high marks in how he played his role as referee of the Kurt Angle vs. Tomko match. Styles had no previous experience for the role.

1PW has announced that TNA World Tag Team Champion A. J. Styles is off of their next show due to TNA changing their taping schedule to Thursday and Friday.

Apparently the DVD "King of the Mountain: The Best of Jeff Jarrett" which features the very best of Jeff Jarrett, including matches, exclusive interviews, never-before-seen photos and video and so much more has been completed but is currently on hold and TNA has not set a release date.

TNA will also be releasing a "director's cut" DVD of the recently aired Global iMPACT!, featuring matches from New Japan Pro Wrestling's January 4 Tokyo Dome show. The three-hour DVD contains exclusive pre and post-match interviews with Kurt Angle, Jeff Jarrett, Christian Cage, A. J. Styles, Petey Williams, Team 3D, The Steiner Brothers, Tomko and Giant Bernard, Abyss and Christopher Daniels. Other features on the DVD include extensive comments from Jeff Jarrett on the TNA/New Japan relationship, the history of wrestling in Japan, his memories competing in Japan and more. Plus, exclusive footage of the TNA superstars enjoying the Japanese culture, including Tomko, Christian Cage, Brother Ray and Giant Bernard taking in the Japanese nightlife, The Steiner Brothers enjoying a Japanese meal, A. J. Styles and Tomko visiting a local temple and so much more. Matches include IWGP World Tag Team Champions Giant Bernard & Tonko defendig the titles against The Steiner Brothers and Christian Cage, A. J. Styles and Petey Williams vs. Minoru, Prince Devitt and Milano Collection AT among others.

Missy Hyatt announced last week that her special gust on "Missy's Manor" at the Women Superstar Uncensored show will be recently released WWE developmental wrestler/diva Lacey Von Erich, daughter of Kerry Von Erich.

Former NWA-U women's wrestler ODB was a guest on "Monday Night Mayhem" on February 4th and had some comments about WWE World Women's Champion Beth Phoenix. ODB said she has worked with Phoenix, in the early part of her career, and is amazed at how Beth has developed into the star she has become. ODB remembers Beth "working her butt off in OVW" and the many battles they had previously. She tries to keep up with what Beth has been up to, and thinks that if the two were to cross paths again, that it would indeed be a good fight, and that she would come out on top.
