1-28 WWE RAW

Jillian Hall & WWE World Women's Champion Beth Phoenix def. Mickie James & Ashley

Ric Flair came out to respond to Mr. Kennedy's challenge for the No Way Out PPV. Kennedy had accused Flair of being a prime candidate for a retirement home and wanted to be the one to force him into it. Flair said he had 2 things to say: "Good luck" and "Whooo!!"

1-31 TNA iMPACT

TNA World Tag Team Champion A. J. Styles told TNA World Champion Kurt Angle that he can't do what he's doing. Last week Angle tried to recruit TNA World Tag Team Champion Tomko, now he's going to fight him! Angle reminded A. J. that he was the boss. A. J. said he was NWA World Champion 3 times without Angle. Angle said that was back with TNA was a start-up company without a full roster. Angle then grabbed A. J. around the throat and said if A. J. interfered in the match tonight, there would be severe trouble. Karen Angle tried to intervene as Kurt told A. J. to get out of the locker room.

A. J. was back with Tomko. He said he was sorry about last week. They're the World Tag Team Champions. He doesn't want Tomko to wrestle Angle. Tomko said he wanted to punch A. J. in the face and pointed out that A. J. chose Kurt & Karen. A. J. said Karen was into him. Tomko rolled his eyes and said one day A. J. would get it. Until then, he should stay out of his way.

Matt Morgan was backstage with Jim Cornette talking about the issue with Samoa Joe last week. Cornette said he didn't want anything to mess this up. They're about to sign Joe to a contract where he would finally be under their control. He also brought up how Morgan attacked Kevin Nash. Morgan got up into Cornette's face, but Nash then entered the room. He said he would fight Morgan if the money was right, then quoted rule #1 from "Nash's Fight Club": Don't fight for free. He reminded Cornette that if Joe didn't sign tonight, Cornette was out of a job. If he was gone, Morgan was gone too. Nash smiled at this idea. A. J. came in and began to beg Cornette not to allow the Angle/Tomko match. He said he would get down on his knees and beg if he had to. Cornette told him to stop because he's making an idiot out of himself. He said he had a solution. A. J. thanked him for not making the match. Cornette said he had a solution, but it didn't necessarily mean not having the match. He told A. J. to come when he was called. As A. J. & Kevin left, Cornette told Crystal that he didn't see what Karen has that has such a hold over them.

Jim Cornette was in the ring. He said the Against All Odds PPV was shaping up to be the best in history. He ran down the card. He said there was some business to take care of. He called A. J. to the ring. He said A. J. was one of the best , but he's not too bright. He said he feels A. J.'s pain and understood the conflict. He didn't want A. J. to feel helpless, so the match with Angle and Tomko will go on with 1 change: A. J. will be referee. He said A. J. looked good in stripes. A. J. said he won't count. Cornette said there must be a winner. If not, A. J.'s contract would be terminated.

Jeremy Borash interviewed A. J. in his referee uniform. A. J. said he didn't ask for this. Kurt and Karen Angle came up. Kurt said he knew what A. J. was going to do. He was going to drop to his knees, slap the mat 3 times, stand up and raise Kurt's hand. He asked A. J. if that was so hard. A. J. started to protest when Tomko exploded into the area and began to fight with Kurt.

Jim Cornette was once again in the ring. He said he held in his hand the most bonus laden contract to be signed by a talent. All he had to do was have it signed. He called out Samoa Joe. Joe & Nash came out. Cornette said he knew things had gone along a rocky road. He hoped there were no hard feelings. He said Joe was a valued talent and listed his accolades. The fans chanted for Joe. Cornette said he was glad they could put problems behind them. He said all the terms they asked for are in the contract. It just needed a signature. Unfortunately, Cornette didn't bring a pen. Neither did Joe. Cornette asked Matt Morgan for a pen and he had one, which he took out , then flicked at Joe's face. This cause Joe to come up to Morgan, where Morgan pie-faced Joe. Joe then suplexed Morgan through the table and proceded to rip the contract to shreds.

TNA World Tag Team Champion Tomko def. TNA World Champion Kurt Angle (w/ Karen Angle) in a match where TNA World Tag Team Champion A. J. Styles was the referee. Towards the end of the match, Tomko accidentaly pulled Angle into A. J., knocking him out of the ring. While Karen was trying to help A. J. recover, Christian Cage came down, grabbed the World title belt and hit Kurt with it. A. J. was then forced to make the count that he had been reluctant to do all match.

2-1 WWE Smackdown

Ric Flair def. WWE United States Champion Montell Vontavious Porter by DQ. After the match, MVP made a focused attack on Flair's left leg, trying to injure it.

Ric Flair was being tended to backstage by WWE medics & trainers. He begged them not to straighten the leg out, but they said they had to check for possible ligament damage.
