1-21 WWE RAW

WWE World Women's Champion Beth Phoenix def. Mickie James

1-28 TNA iMPACT

Jim Cornette was talking to the locker room. He said Corporate was all over him for the ending of the main event the previous week. If he's going down, he's talking someone with him. He said he had matches set up that will make this week's show a donnybrook. He announced that TNA World X Division Champion Jay Lethal will defend his title against Johnny Devine and TNA World Tag Team Champion A. J. Styles & Tomko would defend their titles against the Motor City Machine Guns. Both these pairing wanted to go at each other right then. Cornette told them to save it. Team 3-D showed up. Brother Ray was upset. He told Crystal to stop blowing up his phone. He then asked Jim Cornette if it juggled his brain to be thrown off that scaffold back in 1986. He also sarcastically complimented A. J.'s crown. He reminded Cornette that they were 20-time World Tag Team champions and they deserve a shot. Cornette said if they would make it a great match, he'd set it up and made the Tag Team title match a 3-Way Dance. Brother Ray said he loved 3-ways. Cornette asked that Brother Ray leave him alone.

After Jeremy Borash ran down the card for this week's show in the Angle Alliance's locker room, TNA World Champion Kurt Angle was upset. He said the Angle Alliance had buisiness. He called A. J. over and told him he needed to get his house in order. He wanted a sit-down meeting with Tomko. A. J. wasn't sure that was going to work. He said Tomko had his own agenda. Kurt started to get upset, but Karen sent him off with Borash so she could talk to A. J. She reminded him about the discussion last week about how he can "soar" and told him he needed to do that now. She promised that if he does that favour for Kurt, she'd do something for him. A. J. asked what that could be. Karen lowered a strap on her dress and told him it would be worth his time. A. J. seemed much more confident that the idea would work and headed off to set up the meeting.

The Angle Alliance was backstage with Tomko and Crystal. Kurt said they neede him as much as needed them. If Tomko helped him beat Christian Cage, Kurt would make him a member of the Angle Alliance. Tomko asked what he would get for that. Kurt said money, cars and Karen. Tomko asked what Karen was supposed to do for him. Kurt said she "inspired" them. A. J. chimed up in agreement. Tomko said he's a married man with kids and gets his "inspiration" from them. Kurt said this was Karen Angle, not some strpper Tomko picked up in a bar. Tomko went ballistic and threw Kurt around the locker room before dragging him to the ring for a major beating.

After Samoa Joe decked Jeremy Borash, Jim Cornette came to the ring and asked if he'd lost his mind. Joe destroyed the TNA MVP trophy he had won for 2007. He started to attack Cornette, but Kevin Nash came out and stepped between the two. Cornette said he knew Joe was screwed over at the last PPV. It happens. He had a deal. if Joe served as the special referee in the Kurt Angle/Christian Cage TNA World Title match at Against All Odds, he'd give Joe a title shot in March. Joe refused. Cornette asked what Joe wanted. Joe said he wanted a 5-year exclusinve contract and for each year on the contract, he wanted to be paid more than Kurt. Cornette asked if he could have some time to think about this. Joe said he was originally going to give him some time, but after the fan reaction, they seem to want an answer now. He told Cornette it was time to put up or shut up. Cornette said the contract would be there next week.

A. J. Styles & Tomko were arguing backstage before their title defence. Tomko said Kurt might be A. J.'s boss, but he's about to become a problem for Tomko to solve.

TNA World Tag Team Champions A. J. Styles & Tomko (w/ Karen Angle) def. Team 3-D and The Motor City Machine Guns in a Triple Threat Match where wrestlers weren't allowed to tag their own partners or to wrestle their own partners. A. J. tended to an injured Karen Angle halfway throught the match and eventually left with her to go to the lockerroom., leaving Tomko all alone. After Tomko scored the pin, A. J. came back out to celebrate, but Tomko was not happy about fighting the match on his own and shoved A. J. on his butt. Christian Cage appeared at the top of the ramp, applauding Tomko's actions.

1-25 WWE Smackdown

Ric Flair came out to counter WWE United States Champion Montell Vontavious Portner's claims that he would retired this weekend. He said MVP was cool and Flair couldn't think of a grander stage to retire on tha Madison Square Garden, but the "golf club chippin', shuffle-board playin' nursing home resident" wasn't ready to retire. At the Royal Rumble, he would beat MVP.
