NEWS
Striker was accompanied to the ring at the last IZW show by his daughter Bryanna. It was her 16th birthday and she wanted to accompany her father to the ring for her birthday present. Happy Birthday Bryanna!

Blake Albright broke his hand in 2 places during his match January 12 against ComPro Oklahoma X Division Champion Shane Morbid. Albright was scheduled to have surgery January 21st and is expected to be out up to 4 months. Oklafan extends Albright its wishes for a speedy recovery.

On January 2nd, WWE announced that Jim Ross had turned 63 years old, when in reality, the much-maligned announcer celebrated his 56th birthday on that date. It was rib since Vince McMahon is 62 years old.

Speaking of Jim Ross, he announced that he agreed to a new two year WWE contract in his new blog.

Continuing our Jim Ross reports, it was reported that he attended the University of Oklahoma basketball game against Texas Tech in Norman this past weekend.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reported last week that the Sting and Randy Savage DVDs have been canceled. They were OK'd without Vince McMahon's permission, and when he found out, he nixed them.

"The Legend of Stone Cold Steve Austin" comes out on DVD February 12th. Among the matches included in the DVD are Austin & Dude Love vs. Owen Hart & Davey-Boy Smith (July 14, 1007; Austin & Love win the WWF World Tag Team Titles) and Austin vs. Dude Love (May 31, 1998).

Kerry Von Erich's daughter, Lacey, was released from her WWE developmental deal on January 15th.

Both Val Venis and Kane are supporting Ron Paul for president. As mentioned previously, Ric Flair is campaigning for Mike Huckabee.

TNA has posted the "TNA Today" from OKC on YouTube. You can view it by clicking here.

Speaking of the TNA show in OKC, the young female that accompanied Ms. Brooks to the ring at the TNA event in Oklahoma City was the winner of a local contest.

An eBay member named rasslinmark, based out of Wisconsin, is selling the Santa's Workshop Match worn outfit worn by former NWA-U women's wrestler and current TNA Knockout, O. D. B. At the time of this column, the bid is at $99.99 with a "Buy It Now" price of $350. The auction can be viewed by clicking here. A few weeks ago, the same seller sold the Santa's Workshop Match outfit for Traci Brooks for $550 and is now also selling a bra worn by Brooks in a photo shoot.

One-time NWA-U women's wrestler April Hunter announced her retirement from active competition last week. Doctors in the US and Canada have told her that she has a bad back and neck and her femur doesn't fit correctly into her hip socket. She also listed possible internal organ failure as well. While she no longer will be wrestling she will continue to manage wrestlers.

R.J. Walters of the Hillsdale Daily News, regarding his "Ultimate Warrior" story of a few days ago where he got worked thinking the guy using The Warrior name was the famous one, said he is printing a full retraction. He wrote he has virtually no background knowledge in wrestling and only had a 30-second heads up that he was coming to the paper for an interview. "It was certainly a poor job of failing to recognize the scam on my part and everything is being taken care of. Myself and the News takes responsibility for the mistake." You can't ask for more than that.

Ernie Holmes, the famous Pittsburgh Steelers football player who passed away at 59 Thursday night in an auto accident, had a pro wrestling background. Holmes wasn't wearing a seat belt and was thrown when his car rolled several times near Beaumont, TX and pronounced dead at the scene. Holmes briefly worked for Georgia Championship Wrestling (as in a few weeks, before hating it) in the early 80s. Because he had some pro wrestling experience, he was in the 1985 Wrestlemania Battle Royal that included several NFL players. The night before, while in a bus coming back from the secret Battle Royal rehearsal, Holmes, who was about 320 pounds by this time, nearly got into it with Andre the Giant and basically the wrestlers had to scare him with Andre stories to make him back down.

Congratulations to Magnum T. A. and wife Courtney Allen on the recent birth of their twins, Lucy and Tucker. They were born premature on 10/27, but both have been released from the hospital. Courtney was at one time married to Four Horsemen member Tully Blanchard.

Tejas, who won the NWA Texas Heavyweight Title from Al Jackson at an NWA Oklahoma show in Perry and also tagged with Tim WarCloud wo win the NWA North American Tag Team Titles from Kevin Northcutt & John Saxon at an NWA Universal show in Ponca City, has resurfaced in NWA Wisconsin as a member of The Foreign Franchise with Nick Colucci & Thomas Walton III.
