NEWS
The Herb Abrams version of the Universal Wrestling Federation begins airing on ESPN Classic this Tuesday, January 8th. Some of the stars who could be featured on the shows are Steve Williams, Bruno Sammartino, Mick Foley, Bam Bam Bigelow, Lou Albano, Rick Rude, Bob Backlund, Bob Orton, Don Muraco, Stevie Ray, Louie Spicolli, The Killer Bees (Jim Brunzell & Brian Blair) and so much more. It is scheduled to air on ESPN Classic on Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 1am and 1:30am. Abrams ran shows under the UWF banner in Las Vegas from 1990-1994.

Ric Flair was chosen by Alex Marvez as one of the "8 who could be great in 2008" in pro wrestling. Marvez had the following to say about Flair: "Barring an unexpected change of heart, this is the last year we will be seeing the 'Nature Boy' as a full-time wrestler. Flair, who turns 59 in February, may be in line for one final WWE title run while wrapping up his illustrious 36-year career around the time of Wrestlemania 24 in April. Until then, fans should cherish seeing the final matches of the greatest all-around performer in wrestling history."

The current plan has Ric Flair not working house shows. We'll see how long this lasts.

BSWW.de a website based in Denmark went through and recorded how many matches and wins WWE superstars had in 2007. Batista lead all WWE superstars in matches with 161 and wins with 132. WWE superstars with Oklahoma ties include:

Jim Duggan - 64 matches, 35 wins
Ric Flair - 57 matches, 35 wins
Charlie Haas - 78 matches, 18 wins
Beth Phoenix - 44 matches, 25 wins

There are reports that Dusty Rhodes has endorsed Steve Corino for a role in WWE as a producer. Corino has told people he is retiring from the ring. How many times has Corino retired?

Jim Ross was shown several times on the University of Oklahoma sidelines during Wednesday's Tostitos Fiesta Bowl, and was identified once. West Virginia beat Oklahoma 48-28 in the game.

One time AACW wrestler KAFU has been signed by WWE to a developmental deal.

During an interview with The Big Mosh & Blade on {url=http://www.MondayNightMayhem.com]MondayNightMayhem.com[/url], current TNA wrestler Kaz said he is very proud of coming out victorious against "The Phenomenal" A. J. Styles in the Reindeer Suit Match on the Christmas edition of "TNA iMPACT!" -- as he described holding the reindeer head in his hand after the match as "surreal." Kaz agrees with Mosh's take of A. J. becoming "a modern-day Andy Kaufmann with athletic ability," as the wrestling fans around the world have seen a newer side of A. J. over the past year. Kaz also teased the listening audience by saying that he thinks his battles with Styles are far from over. Working with A. J. in various matches/contests over the years are also some of Kaz's proudest moments.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that TNA has signed Sting for a limited schedule in 2008. He'll work some television tapings and PPVs.

One time NWA-U woman wrestler, and current TNA Knockout, Traci Brooks is selling a match worn out fit on eBay. The out fit was worn during the "Santa's Workshop Knockout Street Fight" that aired on Spike TV's TNA Impact on December 20, 2007. The current bid is $99.99 and can be viewed at "Santa's Workshop Knockout Street Fight" outfit that aired on Spike TV's TNA Impact on December 20, 2007.

The December 20th Inoki Genome Federation show at the Tokyo Ariake Coliseum only drew about 2,500 fans. The promotion announced 6,233 fans in the 12,000 seat arena, but fell well short of that number. The IGF advertised names like Kurt Angle, Booker T (who was replaced on the show by Kendo Kashin), Josh Barnett, and Naoya Owaga for the show. The show also featured A.J. Styles, Senshi, and Chris Moore (formerly Chris Masters in WWE).

Former WWE superstar Brent Albright will be a guest on Trash Talking Radio on Tuesday night. You can listen to the interview by visiting the Trash Talking Radio website at TrashTalkingRadio.com.

Adam Thornstowe recently won Supreme Pro Wrestling's Wrestler of the Year Award and his 60 Minute Ironman Match against Rik Luxury was voted as SPW's Match of the Year. Thornstowe is the current SPW Heavyweight Champion.

The Puerto Rico based World Wrestling Council has announced that they have launched a DVD Anthology named WWC Anniversaries, 1985-1988. The DVD has 14 matches, with 9 previously unavailable on DVD. Matches on the DVD include:

-Abdullah the Butcher vs. Carlos Colon (1985)
-Hercules Ayala vs. Ric Flair (1985)
-The Invaders (Invader 1 & 2) vs. The Sheepherders (Luke Williams & Butch Miller) in a Barbed Wire Match (1985)

The Puerto Rico based International Wrestling Association announced on December 8th that Luke Williams was let go by the promotion. Williams has been the main booker for the promotion for the last 3 or 4 years. The reasons are unknown, but since there has been changes on the management of the company (with a strong rumor about Mario Savoldi taking charge) this seems the mostly likely reason.

John Wiswell published an article in which he listed what he believed were the top 100 matches of 2007. The list did contain some matches featuring Oklahoma talent such as:
July 6th: Ric Flair vs. Finlay (#72)
June 17th: Christian Cage vs. Kurt Angle vs. A. J. Styles vs. Samoa Joe vs. Chris Harris in a King of the Mountain Match (#67)
February 16th: Brent Albright vs. B. J. Whitmer in a match where tables were legal (#45)
June 3rd: The Hardy Boyz (Matt Hardy & Jeff Hardy) vs. Charlie Haas & Shelton
Benjamin in a Ladder Match (#41)
August 11th: Takeshi Morishima vs. Brent Albright (#36)

The Arlington, TX based Professional Championship Wrestling had been running two shows for years, "Uncut" on Fridays and "Full Throttle" on Saturdays. Apparently PCW has pulled the plug on the Uncut show and will only run Full Throttle. The current PCW Uncut Champion is Bash. No word as to the status of the title.

According to Scotty Charisma's website (ScottyCharisma.com) he is scheduled as extra talent for WWE's Royal Rumble pay-per-view event at Madison Square Garden in New York, NY on January 27th.

There is a new website called WrestlingGoneWrong.com that shows a few interesting things that have happpened in wrestling. One of the videos thay have is an infamous match between Andre the Giant and Akira Maeda that turned into a shoot and had Antonio Inoki coming to the ring to stop the match. Another video is from "WCW Monday Nitro" in which William Regal (then known as Steven Regal) wrestled Goldberg early in Goldberg's career and Regal worked circles around him and in turn got himself fired from WCW.
