NEWS
A decision on the replacement for JBL as Smackdown announcer is expected to be finalized soon by Vince McMahon. There is supposedly a very shot list of people that Kevin Dunn felt performed well in the recent tryouts. They brought in some people. Michael Hayes is under consideration. Hayes has announced on many different occasions over the years for different companies dating back to the mid-80s UWF wrestling where he once beat Jesse Ventura for best color commentator of the year. As lead writer of Smackdown, it may be tough to juggle both jobs so that's the major thing working against him.

One of the main reason?s the direction of the Ric Flair angle has changed from the original concept is due to the fact that the Nature Boy has his supporters and detractors in the company. There are those in the company that don't want Flair beating top stars on his way out.

It has been confirmed that Matt Borne was Doink the Clown on last week's anniversary RAW show. Borne was the original Doink.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter is reporting that Sting has either verbally agreed to a new one-year contract with TNA, or the general belief is that they are very close to an agreement. The deal will have Sting do some television dates, and work most PPVs.

TNA's action figure line by Marvel Toys isn't done for just yet. There will be at least 2 more single pack series (9 and 10) released as well as another set of collectors edition figures with Kurt Angle and Christopher Daniels and Bash N Brawlers featuring A. J. Styles and Rhino. After those items are out out in 2008 the fate of the line is up in the air. TNA's deal with Marvel runs through the end of 2009 but Marvel Toys is in very bad shape financially at this point.

The Best of Jeff Jarrett DVD is still on hold until Jarrett returns to TNA TV which isn't scheduled to happen anytime soon.

Shane Douglas worked Norm Connors' IWC show in Elizabeth, PA on 12/8. He was asked to do angle with Bubba the Bulldog, a local wrestler, but instead cut a promo on both WWE and TNA. Douglas talked about how 53 of his closest friends are now dead and how Vince McMahon has done nothing to make the situation better. Douglas also said ripped on Dutch Mantel's comedy booking, saying the best idea he could come up with was to put Eric Young in a chicken suit. When Bubba the Bulldog grabbed the mic, he put over what Douglas said. The locker room came out and applauded. The show drew 828 fans, another strong showing for an independent show booked by Connors.

Chris Matthews was backstage visiting friends at IZW's "Chaotic Christmas" event. Sassy Merlot was also backstage and once again helped during intermission taking pictures. Aaron Neil and Damon Windsor were both in the crowd during the event.

Congratulations to Courtney & Terry Allen (Terry Allen you'd know better as Magnum T. A.) who were able to bring their twins (born in late October) home. Both were born premature and had to spent about seven weeks in the hospital.

Congratulations also go out to Rocco Valentino, who earned his Master's Degree in Business Administration last week.

If anyone can confirm that that SECW event on December 15 in Hugo, OK occurred, or has results from that show, please e-mail them to us so we can document them.

In closing, the entire staff at Oklafan would like to wish all of faithful readers a very Happy Holidays!!!
