NEWS
There is a power struggle within TNA involving Kurt Angle vs. Jeff Jarrett and Dutch Mantel. Many feel Angle is attempting to obtain complete power, which he has openly talked about running the company in previous interviews. Those is in Angle?s camp had talked about confronting Dixie Carter, who appears to be in the middle, at "Bound for Glory". Many in the Angle camp want more logical old school booking, with some in favor of Jim Cornette ending up as a booker. Believe it or not, there are those that want Vince Russo to gain more booking power.

Shane Douglas recently pulled a "rib" on a couple of wrestling journalists including Bruce Mitchell of Pro Wrestling Torch. Mitchell falsely reported that Douglas had been released from his TNA contract due to a drug relapse. Douglas stated "I would like to thank Bruce Mitchell of PWTorch.com for proper journalism in reporting that I was released from TNA because of a relapse. I would also like to thank Wade Keller for not checking Mitchell's facts as well. Sorry to say but the 'sad' and 'boring' truth is that I, Troy Martin, have had no relapse or taken any kind of drug or pill since my rehab last year. I have moved back home to New Brighton, PA. where I am in the manager training program for Target and am enjoying life with my two sons, Conner and Caden. I do miss performing in front of the fans, but in no way, shape, or form do I miss the wrestling 'business'."

WWE Hall of Famer Roddy Piper was overheard talking about WWE's "Cyber Sunday" pay-per-view event at the G.I. Joe convention and apparently mentioned that he didn't want to be officiate the World Heavyweight title match involving The Great Khali. WWE RAW head writer Brian Gewirtz heard about it, and informed Vince McMahon. McMahon pulled Piper from the PPV.

Buddy Roberts has been on the recent WWE 24/7 shows with Michael Hayes hosting the old tapes of the glory days of World Class Wrestling.

The Major Brothers have heat for an incident in WWE developmental. Apparently they were being offered advice, and acted like it wasn't appreciated. According to a report, the tag team acted like they didn't even know "Dr. Death" Steve Williams.

PWInsider.com is reporting that Robert Gibson was released on Saturday morning by World Wrestling Entertainment. Gibson had been working as a trainer for WWE's Louisville based Ohio Valley Wrestling developmental promotion.

Mike Johnson at PWInsider.com recently had the opportunity to check out an advanced copy of documentary of WWE's DVD "Triumph and Tragedy of World Class Championhsip Wrestling" which will be released on December 11th. He had the following to say about the DVD: "The list of those who provide insight into Texas' most famous family, The Von Erichs and WCCW are Kevin Von Erich, Michael Hayes, Jimmy Garvin, Buddy Roberts, Gary Hart, Bill Mercer, Bill Irwin, Dory Funk Jr., Triple H, Mick Foley, Shawn Michaels, Dusty Rhodes, Verne Gagne, Ric Flair, Jim Ross, Jerry Lawler, Gerald Brisco, and Skandar Akbar. The documentary is among one of the better ones put together by WWE. There were a few small things I would have preferred an opposing viewpoint on, particularly statements made by Kevin about the Fritz Von Erich heart attack angle (he acted as if the fans assumed it was a heart attack, not something the company pulled as an angle, even saying that doing a heart attack angle would be "cheesy") That said, there is a wealth of great insight into that time period and I think anyone who loved that era will enjoy this for the most part. Names like Gino Hernandez, Chris Adams, Bruiser Brody and more are all covered. Gary Hart, Bill Mercer, Michael Hayes and Triple H all provide excellent insight and it's a very well produced piece. Bill Irwin's first person account of David Von Erich's death in Japan is chilling. One of the best statements in the entire piece was made by Kevin, who noted that fans will stay with you for the first death and feel for you but as more pile up, they are going to question what is wrong and give up. Very prophetic, given this past year in wrestling. For all of the talk of WWE wanting to use their Films division to make money and expand their business, I am baffled as to why they don't take some of these documentaries and release them via the film festival and arthouse circles. You can pre-order the DVD from our friends at www.highspots.com. I'll be writing a lot more about the documentary next week."

There is an article at TheLantern.com on 10 legendary drinkers with Andre the Giant at No. 3. Also in the top ten were Dean Martin, Benjamin Franklin, Edgar Allan Poe, Richard Harris, Ernest Hemingway, Winston Churchill, Dylan Thomas, Hank Williams Sr. and John Barrymore.
