NEWS
There is a WWE 24 documentary in the works covering Bill Goldberg's comeback from last year and earlier this year.

WWE.com conducted an interview with former World and Universal Champion Bill Goldberg to mark the 20th anniversary of his debut. During the interview, Goldberg talks about starting in the business, football, his run-in WCW, the character he portrayed on TV, his return to WWE, and more. Perhaps the most interesting part of the interview came when Goldberg was asked if he was willing to return for another run. The night after WrestleMania 33, Goldberg did not completely shut the door on another run. “Ask your boss,” Goldberg replied laughing. “Hey, man, never say never, dude. Stranger things have happened. I did sit for 13 years and then suddenly appear back in the ring,” the former WWE Universal champion added. “Let’s just say it ain’t gonna take nearly the effort to get me ready again that it did last time. So, I’ll see you on the rebound for damn sure.” Goldberg’s return prior to the Survivor Series was successful and well-received by the fans and WWE opted to extend his short deal and make it last till WrestleMania. At WrestleMania, Goldberg lost the Universal title to Brock Lesnar.

It was noted previously how this week’s WWE SmackDown promo by WWE Champion Jinder Mahal, which poked at Shinsuke Nakamura, was a hot topic backstage as it brought on a “that’s too far” chant from the crowd. It was also noted that WWE did not upload the promo to YouTube as they do other segments & matches from the shows each week. A writer from The Washington Post reached out on Twitter earlier this week looking for fans who were in attendance to share their comments on the promo. They published a story which included comments from fans who thought the promo was racist, and fans who gave it a pass. WWE issued the following statement in response to the story, “Just like many other TV shows or movies, WWE creates programming with fictional personalities that incorporates real world issues and sensitive subjects. As a producer of such TV shows, WWE Corporate is committed to embracing and celebrating individuals from all backgrounds as demonstrated by the diversity of our employees, performers and fans worldwide.”

Ric Flair and his fiancée Wendy Barlow sat down with PeopleTV for an 11-minute feature, his first one since he was admitted to an Atlanta, GA hospital on August 12th. Barlow explained how Flair told her that he was having stomach aches, he wasn’t feeling good, and needed to go to the hospital. “It’s the day that saved his life because he was slowly dying,” Barlow said. His fiancée continued to explain Ric’s alcoholic problem, where she spent a whole year trying to convince him to stop drinking, to no avail. Health problems started cropping up and doctors told Flair that he had heart problems. Unfortunately for him, he was in complete in denial. It was certainly tough on the family especially when doctors informed them that Flair had a 20% chance of making it, and his daughter Charlotte was encouraged to go in to see him because her dad was not going out of that room alive. While Flair weathered the first storm, he still has a long way to go as he needs a wheelchair to move around and cannot walk by himself. He needs assistance to do basic things and will be in for a long journey of physical therapy. Wendy credited three people who helped her through the horrible experience: her oldest daughter Sophia, Stone Cold Steve Austin, and Hulk Hogan. Austin used to call every single day and Wendy cried over the phone every day. And Hulk also called every day and then flew in to check out on Ric and pray with him. Hulk also left a note to Ric which read, “To Ric, the number of your days shall be filled. Now it’s the time to tell your story, now it’s the time to help millions of people. You are the greatest wrestler I have ever seen and have the honor to call a real friend. Love you my brother, you are The Man.”

After well over a month in hospital, Ric Flair went home yesterday to continue his rehab process which is expected to take months. Flair posed with his Space Mountain shirt in front of a car with his left hand wrapped up and a Rolex watch on his right hand. The picture was posted by his fiancee Wendy Barlow on her personal Facebook page with the words, “Taking Ric home…” and a heart emoji. The two-time WWE Hall of Famer still needs assistance to do basic things and cannot walk properly, requiring the help of others to walk or a wheelchair. But the Nature Boy is surely not complaining about the situation considering where he was last month, with death staring straight at his face.

Brad Hunter of the Toronto Sun wrote a story entitled "Ric Flair: I body slammed buckets of booze" which you can read on SLAM! Wrestling by clicking here.

Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer is reporting that Jim Cornette will not be appearing at the "Bound For Glory" pay-per-view as expected and he is done with the company. Cornette cannot enter Canada due to his record and with "Bound For Glory" being in Ottawa, Ontario it makes his presence at the show impossible. Cornette said that he decided to come in and help at the request of Jeff Jarrett and they all agreed that he would work up until the BFG pay-per-view and the following set of tapings. With Jarrett out of the picture, his status was pretty much up in the air and hosting the event in Canada was the icing on the cake. Meltzer adds that Cornette has offered to do any filming in Nashville, TN to wrap up his storyline.

IWR CEO Jerry Bostic announced that on October 21st, IWR will team with GFW for a PPV event emanating from Shawnee, OK.

Bull Nakano will be a coach along with Madusa and Cheerleader Melissa at the World Class Developmental Seminar as part of the Rise 6 show on December 1st in South Gate, CA. Nakano and Madusa, who once wrestled for the WWF Women's Title before 32,000 fans on an AJW show at the Tokyo Dome, will do a seminar together and a Meet and Greet. The Stardom promotion will also scout foreigners, as with Shimmer's Dave Prazak and Allison Danger. On that night, Stardom's Kris Wolf will face Shotzi Blackheart, the Rise champion.

Terry Funk told Jerry Lawler on his podcast that he sincerely means that he’s retiring from wrestling whenever he says it, but he loves wrestling too much to turn people down when they ask him to come back. He said that one of these times he knows that he’s going to “go to heaven.”

Chandler Hopkins and Ky-Ote will be having tryout matches with Ring of Honor at their event in Oklahoma City in November.

Will Chambers will make his MMA debut at the Rage In the Cage event at the Sugar Creek Casino in Hinton, OK

The wrestling world is still in shock after the death of legendary manager and announcer Bobby “The Brain” Heenan. “The Brain” worked with and against many of those who competed in the squared circle and it was evident on Twitter how much he was loved by his peers as condolence messages started flooding the popular social network website. “One of the greatest managers and announcers in WWE history. Our thoughts are with the Heenan family,” wrote Vince McMahon, who rarely uses Twitter himself. Ric Flair described his former manager as “the greatest manager, one of the greatest announcers, and one of the best in-ring performers in the history of the business.” Heenan worked with Flair in his WWE days. Triple H said that Heenan was “one of a kind” while Stephanie McMahon posted a quote from Heenan which says, “I don’t look at myself as a hero or smart person. I have a seventh-grade education, but I’ve had a lot of fun.” One of Heenan’s biggest rivals, Hulk Hogan, also paid tribute. “Worked with Bobby Heenan from 1980 until my career ended, learned new things from him ever single day, love you my brother RIP,” wrote the Hulkster, who was often the target of the Heenan Family members. Bret Hart, another individual who worked with Heenan for several years wrote, “Goodbye to another friend. Bobby Heenan has been my hero these past few years. How he battled cancer with such defiance and absolute toughest man the wrestling world ever knew. Rest in peace Bobby, nobody will ever forget all that you gave.” Fellow WWE Hall of Famer and broadcaster Jim Ross said that the news of Heenan’s passing had gutted him. “I loved our time together. No one ever did it better than the Weasel.” Former WCW champion Bill Goldberg admitted that his career would not have been the same without Bobby’s influence. Heenan commentated many of Goldberg’s matches, including his title win against Hulk Hogan. “Very sad to hear of the passing of Bobby The Brain Heenan #RIP my friend. It was a true honor,” he wrote. Jerry “The King” Lawler wrote, “I’ll bet the wrestling fans in Heaven are being highly entertained right now. Rest in Peace Bobby The Brain Heenan.”

Jessica Solt, the daughter of Bobby “The Brain” Heenan, told the Tampa Bay Times that Heenan died from organ failures brought on by cancer. “It was just his time,” Solt said. He had been battling cancer since 2002. Jessica said that her father didn’t really practice in real life what he preached as the over-the-top wrestling personality. Heenan was loyal to his wife of 40 years Cindy and was always available to help friends. Brian Blair, one half of the tag team The Killer Bees and a former commissioner of Hillsborough County in Florida, said that he misses “The Brain” already and described him as one of the best in the industry. Lanny Poffo, the brother of the late "Macho Man" Randy Savage and another former colleague of Bobby Heenan, put over Heenan’s heel tactics and it was evident when WWF put Andre the Giant, who was one of the most popular wrestlers in the world, with Heenan, Andre was instantly hated.
