JR's Blog: RINGSIDE Coming to NYC! Exclusive NJPW/AXSTV Info, Brock-Joe, Headlock on Hunger, @DCImprov

Posted: Jun 15th 2017 By: Jim Ross

Greetings everyone and thanks for stopping by our site. There's news on another RINGSIDE with Jim Ross Show and much more. We appreciate you...

Excited to announce that we will be presenting a RINGSIDE with Jim Ross Show in NYC Summer Slam weekend on Friday night August 18 at the Gotham Comedy Club, 208 West 23rd St between 7th and 8th avenues, with a VIP meet/greet/photos from 5;30-6:45 with the show starting at 7:30 pm. Tickets go on sale Tuesday June 27 at 10 am at www.gothamcomedyclub.com. We will only have 100 VIP tickets available for this huge event while general admission tickets are $30. We're planning on a special night in the Big Apple and I'd suggest that ample 'surprises' are likely. Get your tickets early when they go on sale Tuesday morning at 10 am ET on June 27.

Tickets for our annual trip to the DC Improv is on sale for our Thursday August 10 RINGSIDE Show at www.dcimprov.com. VIP and general admission tickets are both still available but are going fast. I love this venue and I will be joined by MC and radio star @ChadDukes. Join us.

Enjoyed jumping on Busted Open radio Tuesday for AXSTV and will be on Wrestling Observer Live Today (Wednesday) as well talking July 1 NJPW on AXSTV. This event is taking on a life lf its own within the wrestling community.

On Friday night June 30, the night before the AXSTV live broadcast of the Long Beach NJPW event, we will broadcast Dominion bouts: Cody vs Michael Elgin, Naito vs Tanahashi for IC Title, and the Kazuchika Okada vs Kenny Omega IWGP Title bout in its entirety. Set your DVR's and join us for these two massive days within the genre of pro wresting television.

AXSTV is blocking out a four hour window for the Saturday July 1, 8 pm ET/5 pm PT live broadcast of NJPW in Long Beach. Set your DVR's accordingly. Also, I'm told that the network will not interrupt any bouts for commercials, etc.

To address a frequent question, we will have an audio version of SLOBBERKNOCKER: My Life in Wresting and I'll be reading it. I don't have all the details on it but I assume it will be available in October which is when the autobiography will be available in stores, etc. You can preorder it now and save a buck or two at www.amazon.com.

Amazing conversations this week on the Ross Report with two entertaining and informative guests, @BellatorMMA Matt MItrione and the hottest free agent in the biz of rassslin, Adam Cole. These shows are always FREE at www.podcastone.com and @ApplePodcasts plus right here on this very site on our home page.

Bravo to all involved in the Brock Lesnar-Samoa Joe confrontation Monday night on RAW as it resonated more prominently, to me, than any piece of business on RAW V in a good while. We fans are creatures of habit to a large degree and we, as a rule, dearly love to see big, tough people especially alpha males engage in physicality of which many can ony dream.

Seeing Joe become the first man in memory to block a Brock Lesnar double leg takedown attempt Monday night was a pivotal moment to remember in this rivalry.

Without question the Great Balls of Fire main event coming to Dallas on the WWE Network will be a sellout at the backstage TV monitors as Joe and Brock will physically bring it to level that may make some of their peers uncomfortable. SLOBBERKNOCKER level carnage!

Enjoyed the work of both Charlotte and Natty Tuesday nigh on SD Live. I'd be intrigued in seeing a more extended storyline between these two because I know that the match quality and the promos would all be stellar.

Nakamura, AJ, Sami Zayn, Corbin, KO and Ziggler all certainly earned their money Tuesday night and closed the show well in their six man tag bout promoting Sunday's MITB Ladder match in St Louis on the WWE Network. It was a timely story leading into one of the main events this weekend.

Curious to see who the public thinks has the best MITB bout this Sunday night, the gentlemen or the ladies. Adam Cole addressed this unique and real matter on this week's Ross Report among other topics including his future.

Jason Powell of Pro Wrestling Dot Net will join me next week on the Ross Report to talk MITB and other news items from around the mat world. Jason is an excellent guest and his site is restaurant quality.

Looking forward to volunteering some time next week in Asheville North Carolina at the Ingles Market on Tunnel Road Wednesday June 21 for Headlock on Hunger. Look forward to seeing Asheville residents Adam (Edge) Copeland and his wonderful wife Beth.

Congrats and good luck to fellow broadcasters Mauro Ranallo and Mike Goldberg who have recently signed with Bellator MMA with the exit of my friend Sean Grande. Scott Coker added two strong broadcasters to his team while Sean will focus on his son and his radio gig with the Boston Celtics. Bellator has a PPV event on June 24 in Madison Square Garden that @MattMitrione talks with me about this week on our podcast. Curious to see how the two play by play men are utilized but it is certainly doable but I'd have Mauro on the play by play call and Goldie in more of a host/anchor role.

Grill with JR's this Summer from www.wweshop.com and in the U.K., Ireland and Europe from www.americansoda.co.uk. Thanks.

Headed to Tulsa to speak at a breakfast at the annual, National Arena Marketing Conference. I figure I can do a solid, 15 minutes without the benefit of a script.

Go out and have a great day. Do good things for others and see how much better that it makes you feel. Guaranteed.
