NEWS
The WWE signed a multi-year deal with Dana Warrior, the widow of Ultimate Warrior. This is part of continuing to market the Ultimate Warrior name, have her be part of the annual Ultimate Warrior Award, etc.

RAW General Manager Mick Foley will be releasing a Christmas book later this year titled Saint Mick. The book, in hardcover format, will be published by Polis Books and will contain 256 pages. It’s already available to pre-order from Amazon for $25.99. The preview of the book reads, “Sailing into the Holiday season with the earnestness of George Bailey discovering how wonderful life can be, the dog-eared determination of Ralphie on his Red Ryder quest, and with the speed and precision of a Buddy Elf snowball barrage, Saint Mick from New York Times #1 bestselling author Mick Foley is a Yuletide tale like no other: part jolly memoir, part whimsical ode to a lifetime love affair with Christmas, part solemn tribute to the power of finding the best part of oneself in the unlikeliest of places.” Foley is an accomplished author of several children books and his love for the Christmas holiday is no secret.

The main event for the RAW only pay-per-view "Fastlane" was set last Monday, and the outcome of the match could alter another match at "WrestleMania". WWE Universal champion Kevin Owens will be defending the title against Goldberg, who interrupted the segment between Owens and Chris Jericho during the show. Goldberg wrote himself on Jericho's list and then, all pissed off, Jericho accepted Goldberg’s challenge for the WWE Universal Title on behalf of his best friend, Owens. During the same segment, Goldberg also accepted Brock Lesnar’s challenge for one final match at "WrestleMania". If Goldberg manages to defeat Kevin Owens at Fastlane, he will go to "WrestleMania" as the WWE Universal Champion, making Lesnar the number one contender for the title.

Bill Goldberg has been added to both the February 27th and March 6th RAW shows. He would be expected on February 27th since that's the "Fastlane" go-home show and he's headlining that card. The March 6th show is the day after, the first show with the hard push for "WrestleMania", and he and Brock Lesnar are the key match on that show.

Madison Square Garden's website is now advertising that A. J. Styles and Shane McMahon will be making "special appearances" at WWE's house show at the arena next month. Brock Lesnar vs. Kevin Owens is also scheduled for that show.

Some notes about the hidden gems on the WWE network. The Ric Flair vs. Buddy Rogers clip has no audio on it. The Funks vs. Bruce Hart & Brian Pillman match did air on television in a one hour show previously in Alberta. The Bruno Sammartino vs. George Steele cage match that they say is from Madison Square Garden, which couldn't have been because there was no MSG show that day, was actually from the old Philadelphia Arena on July 25, 1970. It was already released in both Bruno Sammartino and George Steele home videos.

Gerald Brisco will be doing a pro wrestler evaluation on July 21st at 11:30am in Waterloo, IA as part of the Tragos/Thesz Hall of Fame weekend. Brisco, the lead talent scout for WWE, only does three of these each year. Last year, three people from the tryout got WWE invites to attend a tryout for the company. J. J. Dillon will also be evaluating and Brisco will also be doing a seminar and drills. The cost is $150. For those interested, send a resume, with a photo, height, weight, age, name of trainer and career highlights to Troy Peterson at WRESSHOW@yahoo.com.

In the latest Wrestling Observer, Dave Meltzer says that Jeff Jarrett has now replaced John Gaburick as the top guy in TNA. Gaburick held the position of Executive Vice President of Creative & Talent Relations since his arrival in 2013 and was the number two guy behind Dixie Carter during the old TNA regime. While there is a change in the hierarchy, Gaburick is still with the company, although in what position remains to be seen. As Dixie’s right hand man, Gaburick had a lot of power but now with Dixie Carter completely gone, along with her husband, it will be interesting to see where Gaburick fits in the picture. Jarrett will be running the creative department along with Dutch Mantel and Scott D’Amore starting with the next set of television tapings which will happen either late March or early April.

NWAOnDemand.com just uploaded a July 1, 1977 NWA World Title match with Harley Race vs. Terry Funk from the Houston Coliseum which is said to be an incredible match.

Oklafan extends condolences to Urn Stokes on the passing of his grandmother on February 12th.

Oklafan extends condolences to the family and friends of Chavo Guerrero, Sr., who passed away due to xomplications from liver cancer. He was 68 years old. Guerrero, whose real name was Salvador Guerrero III, was a second generation wrestler and the oldest of four brothers who would all become pro wrestlers. Chavo began his career working for his father Gory Guerrero part-time in 1970. He would move to Florida in 1974, but the talent pool was so deep at that time that he was virtually unnoticed. It was not until 1975 when he went to compete for Roy Shire in California that Guerrero took the national spotlight, thanks in part to the coverage that company got from the Spanish International Network (now known as Univision). A massive feud with Roddy Piper made Guerrero the top babyface in the company and he would hold the NWA Americas Title on 15 separate occassions as well as the NWA Americas Tag Team Titles 11 times with 10 different partners. Additionally, reigns as NWA World Junior Heavyweight Champion and NWA World Light Heavyweight Champion also came to him. Guerrero then began to make an international reputation for himself, becoming one of the premiere Junior Heavyweights and regularly competing in Japan while still working all over the United States. Modern fans perhaps best know Guerrero as Chavo Classic, the moniker he used when he competed in the WWE. In 2004, Guerrero became the oldest competitor to win the WWE World Cruiserweight Title. Guerrero remained an active competitor almost to the end of his life, having his last match in November of 2016. Guerrero has 22 documented appearances in Oklahoma. The earliest was on November 21, 1982 when he defeated Marty Lunde in Oklahoma City and the last came on December 8, 2002 when he successfully defended his TXW Title against Hector Ricon in Tulsa.

WWE acknowledged Chavo Guerrero Sr.'s death with an article on their website which you can read by clicking here.

After Guerrero's passing, several stars in wrestling paid tribute on social media:

Chavo Guerrero, Jr.: Today the world lost a true rebel. He did things "HIS" way. Not always right, not always wrong, but He always followed what he believed in. He was diagnosed with Liver Cancer in early January of this year. As believer in Christ Jesus, he is now in Paradise. Today is a Sad day in the Guerrero Family. Rest In Peace Chavo "Classic" Guerrero Sr. #rip #nowinheaven

WWE: WWE is saddened to learn that Chavo Guerrero Sr. has passed away.

Chris Jericho: RIP #ChavoGuerrero... a true pioneer and legend in this business. It was a pleasure to know him, even if he did owe me 60 dollars. 🙂 Say hi to Eddy for me bro....

John Bradshaw Layfield: My greatest compliment-
visiting with Chavo Sr before Eddie's funeral-he said "today you are a Guerrero". Loved that man! RIP ChavoClassic

Tajiri: RIP papi #ChavoGuerrero ...

Triple H: Chavo Sr. was one of a kind. He did things his own way & entertained fans for 20+ years. My thoughts are with the entire Guerrero family.

John Darnielle, the frontman of The Mountain Goats, posted some thoughts on Twitter about the death of Chavo Guerrero Sr. Darnielle wrote: "Chavo Guerrero, Sr. has died. Champ, when we met, you were gracious, kind, open, & giving. It has been an honor over the past few years, to be in touch with you -- to hear from you at holidays, to see what a true champion you were in life. I will miss you so so much." The Mountain Goats released the song "The Legend of Chavo Guerrero" in 2015 as part of their pro wrestling-based concept album "Beat the Champ."
