Some people think that ECW was all about blood and barbed wire. Many people forget that ECW was about great wrestling instead of gimmicks. It’s time to remind them. The ECW UNRELEASED VOLUME 1 Blu-ray will include the Triple Threat Match that arguably put ECW in the national spotlight, The Night The Line Was Crossed: Sabu vs. Terry Funk vs. “The Franchise” Shane Douglas plus Tommy Dreamer making history vs. Jimmy “Superfly” Snuka from 2/5/94…BUY A BLU-RAY PLAYER FOR THESE TWO MATCHES!"
The ESPN Radio station in Raleigh, NC on Thursday talked about the 25th anniversary of WrestleMania III, doing lots of trivia from the show. They played audio of the Hogan vs. Andre finish and pushed that Andre was living in North Carolina at the time. Andre lived in Ellerbee, NC on a ranch at that time and until his death six years later.
The WWE Hall of Fame saw some old faces returning into the public eye at a WWE event for the first time in a while. Lita was there in front row between CM Punk and Randy Orton in support of Edge. Her former boyfriend even gave her a shout out in his speech. The two remained friends even after breaking up. Kevin Nash and Sean Waltman also showed up at the show after their appearance last year with Shawn Michaels. Diamond Dallas Page, Haku/Meng, The Iron Sheik, Jimmy Hart, Harley Race, Dustin Rhodes, Rey Mysterio, Hacksaw Jim Duggan, Maryse, Sunny, and others also were in attendance. Linda McMahon was in front row sitting next to Pat Patterson and Stephanie McMahon was
also there. Shane McMahon was not in attendance, not even Steve Austin or Bret Hart.

Both WWE and TNA separately announced that Ric Flair would be attending the WWE Hall of Fame ceremony on Saturday night in Miami. Flair was going to attend either way, but the two sides had to negotiate what and how much he would be allowed to do, as far as giving a speech, appearing on television and appearing in the DVD. There had been negotiations going on for weeks and the sides had verbally agreed to terms at some point last week, as to what Flair could do and what WWE would do in exchange. Neither side has released the terms at this point. The announcement was held off until Tuesday because WWE wanted everything signed and sealed before making the announcement.
TNA requested two things in exchange for allowing Ric Flair to appear at last night’s WWE Hall of Fame ceremony.
1. To be mentioned at the event, which apparently didn’t happen.
2. A WWE wrestler to be brought to the TNA studios to be a talking head for a future DVD release.
WWE brought out the big guns earlier this afternoon for the WrestleMania press conference which was held at the Eden Rock Hotel in Miami Beach. The Rock, John Cena, CM Punk, Triple H, Beth Phoenix, and other Superstars and Divas were present for the press conference and some of them got to talk to the fans and press who turned up for the event. Michael Cole hosted the press conference while Matt Striker and Josh Mathews hosted the video feed, talking to the Superstars and Divas. Miami-Dade County Commissioner Jose "Pepe" Diaz presented WWE with the Key to Miami-Dady County and declared March 28-April 2, 2012, as WrestleMania XXVIII Week. "Our goal is not only to host the WWE Universe this week, but for WWE to return to our community again very soon," he said. You can see the one hour event by clicking Zkxs" target="_blank">here. It starts around the 18 minute mark.
Several former WWE Superstars and Divas were in
Miami, FL to attend the WrestleMania festivities, from Axxess, to Hall of Fame, to being a guest at WrestleMania itself. Torrie Wilson, Lita, Diamond
Dallas Page, Maryse, Rikishi, and countless others were in town to be a part of the events and the one and only Nature Boy Ric Flair was spotted at the WWE hotel in Miami, twenty four hours before he once
again was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame with his fellow Horsemen.
In an interview with the LA Times, Cody Rhodes was asked about his favorite moment in WrestleMania history. He said "I’m going to pick a moment that I know nobody else would pick: “Macho Man” Randy Savage’s retirement match vs. the Ultimate Warrior. It wasn’t the match that was great, but Macho Man’s reuniting with Miss Elizabeth afterward. It was such a great moment and people in the stands were actually crying." Although advertised, Terry Funk did not appear with Dory Funk, Jr. at WWE Fan Axxess events last weekend. He just got a knee replacement two weeks ago, and said he was planning on going but there's no way he could. He went to Joe Blanchard's funeral in San Antonio on Monday and realized there was no way physically he could go to Miami this early.

Former WCW and TNA World champion Sting has signed a new one year deal with TNA Wrestling much to the satisfaction of TNA President Dixie Carter. "THRILLED to have just signed the new Sting talent contract," Carter wrote on Twitter. "So proud to have him part of the TNA family! Here's to some great times ahead!" Sting originally signed with TNA in 2003 for a couple of appearances but then went to a full contract in 2006. Last year he was close to signing with WWE for a match against The Undertaker against WrestleMania but eventually changed his mind and re-signed with TNA. Sting is probably the last person from the WCW crew who during his career has never worked for Vince McMahon. However, the new contract signing was for storyline purposes only. The idea is he's no longer G.M. so has to sign a new contract to be a wrestler. He has a contract in place until the end of the year and has not signed a new deal.
Dixie Carter also posted on Twitter: "Proud of Ric Flair and his 2nd WWE HOF induction. Have a great weekend buddy!!! WOOOOOO"
Ric Flair was backstage at TNA's "Impact Wrestling" tapings in Orlando, FL last night.
Bruce Pritchard was not backstage at the tapings, as he is resting after suffering a heart attack
Jeff Jarrett shot scenes for a movie last week called “Spring Breakers” about four college girls who land in jail after robbing a restaurant to fund their spring break vacation. They then find themselves bailed out by a drug dealer who wants them to do his dirty work. The film, set for release around 2013 spring break, stars James Franco, Vanessa Hudgens, and Selena Gomez. The director was said to be thrilled with Jarrett’s contribution and has talked about expanding his role.
According to an upcoming book The Genesis of TNA, written by "Barbaric Wrestling Radio host Brett Buchanan, the idea of TNA's pay-per-view "Lockdown" started as a joke by then-booker Dusty Rhodes. In the book Larry Zbyszko was quoted as saying "Lockdown started as a joke. I just think it’s overdone, because cage matches don’t mean anything, or does anything mean anything unless it’s built up right. So when you have Lockdown every match is in a cage so what’s special when everything’s in a cage. The way it started was they were having a meeting when Dusty was running it for his six months and someone said something about why don’t we put this in a cage too and it was just a stupid idea that Dusty made a joke saying well hell let’s just put every match in a cage. And Dixie jumped up and said great idea I love that idea. She didn’t even know it was a joke. That’s how Lockdown came about where every match is in a cage because Dusty made a joke about it." The first 18 chapters of the book is available at BarbaricWrestling.com and TNAbook.net.
