-Competed in the 1956 and 1960 Olympics in Greco-Roman Wrestling, but did not place in either games.
-Made the 1956 Olympic team in Greco-Roman Wrestling only 6 months after taking up the sport.
-Won 2 NCAA wrestling titles while competing for the University of Oklahoma in 1960 and 1961.
-Was on the same wrestling team at the University of Oklahoma as Bill Watts.
-Was billed from the University of Oklahoma when he began his pro career.
-Was the first opponent of Bill Watts' career. Watts accidentally knocked out one of Lewis' teeth.
-Wrestled in a tag team with a masked wrestler named Dr. Blood. He would later wrestle under a mask as Dr. Blood also and was unmasked by Bill Watts
-For a time, he would issue challenges where if a fan could last for 5 minutes with him, he would win $1000 in silver dollars.
-Passed away on August 30, 1997 from leukemia at the age of 62 at the University of Oklahoma Hospital.
-Posthumously inducted into the George Tragos/Lou Thesz Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame in 2007
