-His run as booker in the NWA ended in 1989 due to him booking an angle where the Road Warriors stabbed him in the eye with a metal spike on Television. According to reports, Rhodes was burnt out as booker and also unappreciative of the restrictions that Ted Turner put in place upon acquiring the World Championship Wrestling television show on TBS. He wanted to test those boundaries, especially the one that said there was to be no blood whatsoever and got fired for it immediately.
