Oklahoma Kid [1st]

Height: 6' 6"

Weight: 290 lbs.

From: Northwest Oklahoma

Other Facts: -Real name was Elmer Ray Gearlds
-Though billed from Northwest Oklahoma, he was actually from Beech Grove, IN. It's doubtful he ever stepped foot into Oklahoma.
-For a time he was known as Ray Gordon, not to be confused with the wrestler of the same name that competed for a time in Oklahoma
-For a time he was known as Mighty Atlas, not to be confused with the wrestler of the same name that competed for a time in Oklahoma
-Probably given the Oklahoma Kid identity as a reference to Jim Barnett, who was a native Oklahoman and the promoter in the Indianapolis Territory where Gearlds first used that identity.
-Not to be confused with Bad Boy or Michael Faith, who both also wrestled as "Oklahoma Kid"
-Passed away on August 11, 1968 at the age of 31 as a result of a heart attack. Wrestler Frankie Laine attributes this death to steroid use, but that was never proven.
