-Chosen as the Olympic representative in freestyle for his weightclass in both 1952 and 1956, but a lack of funds prevented the Canadian Olympic team from taking freestyle wrestlers to the Games in Helsinki, Finland and Melbourne, Australia.
-Defeated Doug Joyce in his debut match.
-Bore a striking resemblance to Verne Gagne and was frequently mistaken for him.
-Competed under a mask as "Mr. Wrestling". He only did this in Amarillo and is not to be confused with either Tim Woods (who was the original Mr. Wrestling) or Johnny Walker (who more commonly competed as Mr. Wrestling II, but shortened it to Mr. Wrestling while working as a heel in MSW). He was unmasked by Karl Krupp in 1973. He would redon the mask on one occasion in 1976.
-After retiring in 1983, he would haul the ring and referee for Florida Championship Wrestling. He also hauled the ring for WCW until it was bought by Vince McMahon, Jr.
-Passed away December 17, 2012 at the age of 82 from heart failure and pneumonia.
