-Born in Muskogee, OK
-His last name was actually spelled Rains, but he thought it looked better spelled Raines.
-Was called "Dirty Dick" because he allegedly was disqualified over 1000 times in his career.
-His backbreaker was so devastating, that reportedly several state athletic commissions barred the maneuver.
-Was also known as Bull Bullinski in the western part of the country. Not to be confused with the Bull Bullinski that originally hailed from Philadelphia, PA.
-Quit wrestling in January 1943 to enlist in the U. S. Army. While in the Army, he helped write a hand-to-hand combat book and taught judo and karate at stations in Georgia, Washington, and Washington D. C.
-After his stint in the Army, he returned to the ring in 1946 and in September of that same year, he was in a match with Charro Azteca and Azteca used a backbreaker of his own and Raines broke his pelvis. He was temporarily paralyzed and missed 6 months of action. He vowed to only return to the ring to face Azteca. He did and defeated Azteca in his return match.
-Competed under a mask as Red Demon until he was unmasked by Don Eagle on March 18, 1957
-Refereed matches in Texas and promoted wrestling in Waco, TX after his active career was over.
-Passed away in October 18, 1979 at the age of 68
-Posthumously inducted into the Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame and Museum in 2017
