Although he was cleared of any criminal negligence in the accident, he was haunted by this event for the rest of his life. His own daughter was 5 years old at the time of the accident.
-Fractured his legs in a parachute jump in September 1935. Although he would return to action a year later, he would be forced to retire prematurely as a result of this injury.
-Passed away on December 15, 1956 at the age of 58 by committing suicide, taking his own life with a self inflicted gunshot wound.
