-Still holds the men's collegiate national records in the squat (881.75 lbs.) and deadlift (766 lbs.) in the 242 lbs. weight class, which he set on March 26, 1983 while attending the University of Tennessee. He is also one of the few men to achieve a total of 2400 pounds, with a total of 2403 on June 28, 1987 in Bloomington, MN while competing in the 275 lbs. weight class. He also holds the Tennessee state records for the squat (985 lbs.), deadlift (821 lbs.), and total.
-In his first match as a professional wrestler, he ripped the door off a steel cage.

-Formed a successful tag team with Phil Lafon known as The Can-Am Express. While in WWF, they were in a car accident while riding with Psycho Sid (AKA Sid Vicious) and Flash Funk (AKA 2 Cold Scorpio). They were injured when the car rolled 4 or 5 times. Although they were kept on the WWF roster, they were sent to ECW when they healed up because WWF Creative said they didn't have anything for them.
-After retiring in 2000, he raised bulls used in the Pro Bull Riders association in rodeos. He also started a group home for boys in San Diego named Team Varsity, Inc.
