Other Facts: -Began his pro wrestling career as a referee and officiated most if not all matches of then-World Champion Ed "Strangler" Lewis to help keep an eye out for a potential double cross.
-Moved to Tulsa in 1924 as promoter of Ed "Strangler" Lewis
-Owner of radio station KAKC (the letter A was for Avey).
-Owned the Tulsa Oilers of the United States Hockey League during the 1940's
-Promoted wrestling in and around Tulsa for many years. During that time he held control of the NWA World Junior Heavyweight Title.
-Became an official NWA promoter in September 1949
-Was NWA Treasurer from September 1950 to August 1960
-Owner and operator of The Coliseum where wrestling and other sporting events were held until it burned down in 1952.
-After Leroy McGuirk lost total eye sight, Avey sold a percentage of his wrestling promotion to McGuirk.
-Sold his interest in his wrestling promotion to McGuirk in January 1958 but remained Treasurer of the NWA until August 1960.
-Passed away on August 9, 1962 at the age of 67
