-Once lost a match to the Junkyard Dog with the stipulation that he had to wear a yellow mask for the next 60 days. He wore the mask, even in public places. But when the 60 days was up, he continued to wear the mask. Sometimes he would conceal it in his tights and take it out to use during the course of the match as a loaded weapon.
-Career was ended in 1982 when he was hit by a drunk driver in
Oklahoma.
-After retiring, he spent the next 30 years as a union boilermaker. He'd kept his union dues paid up for the times when wrestling didn't provide as much income as he'd expected.
